First thought was wondering what the hell he did to even deserve a nomination? But, they lowered their standards to "fat ugly 45 year old smoker at last call" when they gave it to Gore, so this probably shouldn't surprise me as much as it does.

Statements like this to posters like him are prime examples why you are so easily and universally mocked.

Shouldn't I just join the crowd that bitches all of the time? Nothing is ever good. Happy to hate, happy to find fault and be miserable?

Face it, this president will never do anything that will make people on this board happy.

Example: "Well, I guess that takes any sense of "noble" out of the Nobel Prize."

It's nice to see an American win this great prize. Nice to see him recognized on the world stage even though many Americans would applaud his failure. And THAT is pathetic.

Other Americans have won this great prize. Most of them actually did something to deserve it other than getting themselves elected.

Some interesting opinion from that noted bastion of conservative thought, The Guardian: I hope Nobel members feel pleased with themselves, the smug idiots

One should not forget that it is the Swedes who give the Nobel Prizes for science, etc. Norway gives the peace prize as nothing more than a socialist political statement.Obama getting the Nobel for his international groveling is comparable to Nevile Chamberlain having received it (which he didn't) for signing Britain over to the Nazis with the stroke of a pen.

Such Norwegian "phoney baloney"is only taken seriously by the liberals -- Chris Matthews must be having another one of those Obama tingles running up his leg.

Perhaps the President can give the prize money to his former client, ACORN.

And good for them. Still I love how everyone finds it so easy to bash the President. Love the Patriotism.

Your mocking comment of "...no need for health care reform. Everything is just PERFECT!!" to AD is what is ridiculous. It's the latest left talking point in the face of people who offer up other options. Not that he needs me defending him against a predictable dude like you, but he has specifically pointed out why reform IS needed and has gone so far as to lay out the reform he believes is necessary.

But the items he laid out have nothing in common with the power-grabbing, liberty-draining idiocy floating around DC, so that, to a mind-numbing Obama loyalist like yourself is quickly and easily explained away with "no need for health care reform. Everything is just PERFECT!!"

That's why people mock you, Charlie Brown. Because you couldn't think for yourself if you tried.

Leave it to you to miss the broadside of the barn that the bashing has been aimed at the Nobel committee, not Obama.

while i agree it may looks curious to give this award to Obama so early into is presidency, seeing from overseas, my american friends, here is how i think you should take this honor:

This is not Obama that receives the Nobel Prize in fact , it is the american people who has been wise enough to elect him, sending a message of anti-racism, opening to the World, choice of diplomacy over brutal force and that has decided to change the direction of its foreign policies after 8 years of Bushism that had made the USA the most hated country in the world (for good or bad reasons, but it's the truth)

I bet obama doesn't send those 40K extra troops to Afghanistan because of this most prestigious honor he has received.

All in all, I don't give a crap what people on this board think of me. The only people that truly matter is my family.

Is it ridiculous? I don't think so. Again, no matter what is brought up under this administration with this congress people will B word about. Funny thing is that they are supposed to be so partisan in their beliefs, yet found nothing wrong with the last administration. They were probably cheering when the Mission Accomplished banner went up.

And predictable? Sure. I'll give you that. I am not a big fan of the party that says no. I want people to do something. I am a very proud American. And when I see a sitting President win something as great as this.. I am proud. I will also admit that there are people out there that have done more. Again, I will not knock him for receiving it. Not about being an Obama loyalist like you say, more about being a proud American. If Bush, would have won something like this I would have been equally as proud.

I will go after someone if they deserve it, just like you would. So stop with can't think for yourself crap. Especially when you don't know me. Don't believe, give me some questions and I will answer honestly.

You mean kind of like when misbehaved kids love spending time with the easygoing grandparents after the parents punish them for misbehavior?

When the rest of the world can demonstrate that it can behave, then the rest of the world could be justified in its dismissal of Bushism or policies that go along with the moniker.

Why didn't they give it to the Vichy French government during WWII.? They kept peace in a part of France.

Go down to Atlanta, you can hear MLK spinning in his grave.

I hope you're right and that he follows it by withdrawing from Iraq quickly and disentangling us from the really thorny situation in Afghanistan.
