Visiting Buffalo after 13 years

Recommended Posts

4-6 of us who were pals during our SUNY-B days are coming July 23-26 for a mini re-union. Can you guys advise about the accommodations ? Here is what we are looking for:

- Some place where noise and drinking would not cause complaints

- Near the UB south or north campus or near the Falls

- About $150-$200 total per night

Don't care about number of beds.

Help ?!

If you go up to Niagara Falls, New York, you can get a room at the Super 8 on Niagara Falls Blvd for about $50-$75/night. It's a basic hotel, about 5 minutes from the Falls. Best of all -- right across the street from Buzzy's pizza! That's where my wife and I stay when we roll into town to visit family.

There's some decent hotels right by the Falls as well. I've stayed at the Quality Inn Suites on the Falls and it was pretty nice -- about $130-$150/night though which is within your budget, but you're paying for the location more than the room.

Can't help you if you want to stay in Buffalo though.

The major requirement may end up to be noise tolerance. We are fairly indifferent between the Falls and the campus area but a slight bias towards the latter.

Noise tolerance is only as good as the people next to your room

I wouldn't recommend straying near the South Campus. Crime rate is really escalating in that area, but there is always the Marriott near the North Campus. That's a pretty good party hotel. And I think a few folks stayed at the Hotel Indigo for Bills games this past year, but I have no idea what that place is like. There is also the Homewood Suites, Sleep Inn Amherst, and the Ramada right around the North campus as well.

Smoking?

I do but will probably step outside as the others dont. So, that is not a consideration

Thanx to all for the suggestions - please keep them coming. I have thrown out an idea to that group about renting a couple of cabins in Letchworth (granted a bit far) and see what they think.

And yes, I am so very excited about coming there. Buffalo is the first city I lived in when I came to the US. Also will be visiting the place of my first job, car, marriage & first child - Warren, PA.

  • 3 weeks later...

Sorry for the bump guys, but it appears that the stars are aligning for me such that the training camp in Pittsford will be right smack in the middle of my trip! I am ecstatic. I will try to get tickets for July 26th afternoon practice and would love to meet some of you guys there.

BTW, we ended up making reservations for the Extended Stay America in Amherst.

If you want a NICE hotel stay in NF, Canada. The Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Radisson. Cross the Rainbow Bridge and you are 20 minutes from UB North. BTW, I hope you guys make it back for the UB/Pitt home opener Sept 12.
