Cops have to deal with 'hysterical' drivers all the time and are correct to deal with them firmly (see: any youtube video of some idiot getting tazed for refusing to get out of their car). When I got the call my Mom was taking a turn for the worse, I booked a flight that was really cutting it close. as I was pulling into Reagan, got pulled over for speeding. Told her waht was happening, had like 25 minutes to plane left(pre9-11) and could she PLEASE hurry up. All she could say was she was required to do her job and that included running plates etc. Yep missed the flight, and I was pissed. But looking back , what else could she have done? There's being cautious and then there's being an out-and-out **** simply because you are on a power trip. EDIT: i actually fault him less for pulling the gun than holding moats there. He onyl pulled the gun because someone charged out of the car. That makes sense. But what happened after was beyond ridiculous. Hmmm, lets see. Emergency room parking lot, entire family in the car, claims they have a dying relative inside. Seems to me the cop could have used (what obviously little) neural matter he's got between his ears to find out if Moats was telling the truth. yall Posted March 26, 2009 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I was pissed when I read the transcript, but after watching the video, I'm a little less outraged by the whole thing. While I understand Moats was under some stress, he was clearly being a prick to the cop as much as the cop was being a prick to him. There is no reason why the cop couldn't escort Moats into the hospital and write the ticket outside his mom-in-laws room. This is just an example of a cop on a power trip. The pursuit lasted a little more than a minute. Just to show you what a POS this cop is.... You do not have to stop immediately. For instance, a number of women in CT were sexually assaulted by a man pretending to be a state trooper who pulled them over in a dark stretch of highway. Police are supposed to be trained and exercise the knowledge that it is allowable for drivers being stopped to pull into a lighted area or a place off of a main thoroughfare (for both safety and traffic purposes), as long as it's a reasonable distance, they drive slowly, and it's probably a good idea to point to where you're going to pull over, then explain why you did so.
