You guys forgot Jimi Hendrix...."Band of Gypsies."

Then again, most of you probably never heard it because you are not old.  :(

That's a great record.

I used to be huge into the bootlegs and had a lot of good R.E.M. cassettes. Haven't listened to them in a good long while, though. Even so, their unplugged set was great. Surprised they never released it.

Some other choices of mine:

Miles Davis / Cellar Door Sessions

Coltrane / Live at the Village Vanguard

Tony Conrad and Faust / Outside the Dream Syndicate Alive

Richard Buckner / Live at Schubas Tavern

Dylan / any of the bootleg series that have come out including Live 1975, 1964, 1966.

I also have a couple Fugazi shows that they've started selling online. Good stuff.

- Any DMB live album is fantastic, but start with Live at Redrocks.

- Also any Matthews/Tim Reynolds live disk is great, especially Luther College

- Always partial to Pulse from Floyd

For some good soul, the best you can get is Sam Cooke's "One Night Stand: Live at the Harlem Square Club". Fantastic.

Bill, you have seen the Jimi Hendrix live at Filmore film? It has footage of the new years gig on it, and interviews with people talking about the making of the album. Definitely worth a listen...

There's been som great albums listed. As for some "newer" ones:

Someone mention The Hip: Live Between Us - Well worth it. Not a big fan of "Ahead By a Century," but really like the live version.

Our Lady Peace: Live (Calgary & Edmonton)

O.A.R.: 34th & 8th

Jackopierce: Live From the Americas (acoustic)

Dropkick Murphy's: Live on St. Patrick's Day - I don't think one could ever fully capture the energy of one their concerts, but it's a good try.

Randy Rhoads' tribute CD.

My wife worked for Ozzy's lawyer and had the demo tapes for that in the trunk of her car. Thought about switching them out for the sound track to Romper Room, I don't think Ozzy would have known the difference.

Aren't there any good NEW bands? I mean like in the last 10 years that have made any good music?

760881[/snapback]

Not if you don't want there to be. There have been about 20 bands mentioned in this thread that have put out material in the last 10 years. Problem is, record labels are so lousy these days that you have to search them out.
