ryguy101 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I came across this random, weird CBS article about Acrisure stadium... https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/acrisure-stadium-why-it-might-be-haunted/ Here's a synopsis on the article: Here's the History: Pittsburgh is a community that is rich in history, and there's no better source for a good history-based ghost story than the Heinz History Center's Andy Masich, who took us back to July 1755 and Braddock's defeat in the French and Indian War. "It was a massacre, the British lost 500 killed on the battlefield, and many prisoners were taken back to the point," he said. But they weren't taken to the point, which was then the French outpost at Fort Duquesne. "They sent those prisoners over to a place called 'Kill Buck Island,' which is right about where Acrisure Stadium is today," Masich said. If you've never heard of Kill Buck Island, there's a good reason for that: at some point, the land between the island and the North Shore was filled in. "The prisoners from Braddock's defeat were tortured and burned at the stake on that island; their screams could be heard echoing off of Mount Washington," he explained. Another Spiritual Connection: "The Allegheny Athletic Association paid Pudge Heffelfinger $500, but he didn't want to risk his amateur status, so they kept it on the down-low," Masich explained. Pudge was an amazing mountain of a man, a Yale graduate, and he led the Allegheny Athletic Association to undefeated seasons from 1888 to 1891. "To this day, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has not deemed it appropriate to name Pudge Heffelfinger to the Hall of Fame," he said. "It's possible that Pudge could still be walking the corridors at Acrisure Stadium." Here's a video as well describing it: https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/video/ghosts-inside-acrisure-stadium-and-who-is-haunting-the-steelers-home/ Alright... Fellow Buffalo Bills fans don't stay too late after the game and hopefully you won't hear anything paranormal 1 Quote
Bill from NYC Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago It is haunted, and I am living proof. In 1996, the Bills were headed to Pittsburgh for a playoff game. I read in the paper that Bruce Smith was listed as doubtful due to the "flu." I was beyond furious. I called him everything but a child of God. Flu? I can't express how much of a wimp I considered him to be. We lost, and Bruce was just so great we may have won with him in there. Who knows? Well, a week or two later I was driving home and was freezing on not the coldest day. i was so cold put on the heater full blast. Walking from my drivway to the house I was shivering, and had the worst flu of my lifetime. I lost 14 pounds in a week, and was hallucinating yellow and red cartoons on my bedroom wall. On the 4th day I was able to eat half pice of toast with no butter and a few sips of black tea. I realized that I would more than likely live. That same flu today would surely kill me and I am the first on line for flu shots. My point? I was just so angry at Bruce for not playing. I wanted him to go to Pittsburgh and play professional football with that flu in 20 degree weather, and it turned out that making it from my bed to the bathroom was barely if at all possible. I guarantee that others on this board remember that game. Bruce wound up in the hospital as I recall. Well, karma came around to haunt me for my judgemental rant lol. 1 1 3 3 Quote

frostbitmic Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Our stadium was built on an Indian graveyard. The old Meadowlands was built on Jimmy Hoffa. 1 Quote

I had a similar experience when I got turf toe from playing basketball daily on a gym court that had an odd, carpet-like floor rather than traditional hardwood. "Wow, this actually pretty painful. No wonder players miss time when they have it!" 1 Quote

I remember that flu game and defending Bruce, who had a fever of I think 105? It was something like that -- extremely high. He couldn't play football much less maneuver himself around a hospital in a wheelchair in that condition. I remember Cornelius Bennett saying afterward that Smith was EXTREMELY sick and that the critics had no idea how bad that flu was. Quote

I was working at the Stadium at that time. On the Wednesday following that Pittsburgh game, Bruce came to the stadium to pick up his paycheck. He literally looked pale. Not meant as a joke or anything. He didn't look good at all. Quote

Well, not great that you had to go through it, but still great. People tell me all the time that they're not concerned about the flu. I ask them if they've ever had it, and most say "I'm pretty sure I had it before." My response is always: there is no "pretty sure". If you've had it, you'll always remember it, and you'll never want to risk it again! Quote
