The Texans got something for Mechie, and his production over two seasons was even less than Keon’s. But because the was a high second rounder, teams still were willing to give up a late rounder to see if there was anything there. So, the Bills will get a sixth or a seventh for Keon if they want to trade him in March.

Not sure but I'm glad you see my point.

Like I said earlier; to outright cut him next March it cost the Bills $5.5M.

It cost them 30m to cut Diggs

No Elam showed far less than Keon has. Seriously, do you watch the NFL? Some here have said we'd be better suited with Roman Wilson over Keon.

what is this take?

This player had an up and down rookie year where they had some flashes.

Beane traded a 3rd round pick to shore up their position group midseason, in part because they weren’t doing enough.

In year 2, they didn’t really progress despite a MASSIVE OPPORTUNITY in front of them, and suddenly found themselves inactive and in the coach’s dog house.

Which player am I talking about?

Spoilers…. It’s both of them.

Call me a homer but think Keon's shown to be better than Wilson but I know Wilson be a Pro Bowler here.

Ladd is pretty damn good. At the time it wasn’t even a question. That’s why the chargers sprinted right up to the podium afterwards. Dumb.

And again for the 1000.time we didn't need a slot WR when we drafted Coleman but I know, you think all DTs are NTs?

I don’t even know who you are referring to.

what I do know is that Keon basically has had next to zero competition at the boundary WR position two years running and has fumbled that opportunity massively.

He misses a game for bad behavior, which would be a terrible thing even if he was great, and our offense basically doesn’t miss a beat with a one-legged Gabe Davis and an UDFA who wasn’t good enough to make an NFL team last year.

I think it’s safe to say he has failed to take advantage of his opportunity here thus far. He’s just lucky that we didn’t draft a 6th round WR who was infinitely better than him like what happened to Elam.

I'm referring to a 3rd round WR drafted same year as Keon that some have stated better than. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WilsRo02.htm

And just because Keon hasn't shown to be the alpha we wanted he still has value as a depth player and he's earning 2nd Round pick the next two season. Play him through his contract. Hell players can improve in year 3 and 4.

Look at WanDale Robinson with the Giants. Or Alec Pierce with Colts or Christian Watson of the Packers etc. etc.

My feelings on Bishop are documented on here. He looked lost but had a high ceiling. His RAS was really high. He was worth the investment in case he harnessed the athletic upside.

I do not usually have an issue with character concerns. For the right talent, you push it to the side. Diggs caused some headaches. They shouldn’t have been so quick to move on. Marshawn was immature but playing at a Pro Bowl level to start his career. That’s not like Coleman. If he had 1100 yards and 7 TDs as a rookie, we would look the other way on his immaturity.

Lynch was a sub-league average ypa RB each season from 2007 to 2010.

It was fun watching him crash into defenders........but today we'd call him "game script" dependent.

In his "pro bowl" season in Buffalo he was actually only 13th in rushing yards and just 25th in ypa with a pretty pathetic 6 yards per catch as a receiver.

Despite high first round pedigree Lynch was only worth about a 3rd round pick(Buddy only got a 4th)

It certainly wasn't ANYWHERE NEAR the value that a 21 year old 1100 yard 7 TD rookie WR would have today.

Probably a first rounder-in-trade level short.

So let's be realistic with our parallels.

Had Coleman not gotten hurt he likely clears 700 yards as a rookie.......which would have been tremendous rookie production from one of the youngest, least polished WR in that draft.

Beane f#cked up royally expecting him to be WR1.  He was/is a project with a very high ceiling.

I’m not sure I’ve seen much from Coleman to visualize his “high ceiling.”

he exhibits poor spacing and body control effectively all the time.

Is his ceiling high because he’s a generally good athlete and his skills are so unrefined that if he fixed them he might be really good one day? He’s probably a bit stronger than the average WR but also a bit slower and really lacks burst imo.

I never saw the vision for what it’s worth.  His range was Devin Funchess/Devante Parker-tier to me. But your point is fair, he didn’t ask to be the savior of the Bills WR room, that’s all on Beane.

Say what you want about Devante Parker, but he was maybe the best big slow career ever.

His rookie season vs Keon’s

50 targets 26 rec 494 yards and 3 TDs, 19 YPC

57 targets 29 rec 556 yards and 4 TDs, 19.2 YPC,

they are basically peas in a pod
