I'm with you here and I don't know whether to be happy or sad.  In 2 of the last 5 seasons the Bills faced worse odds at winning their division at this point in the season then they do now. And in both cases McD rallied the team and they went on win streaks won the division and at least one playoff game.  It would not shock me in the least of they did it again.

But that's where I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad.  Here we go again with another season where we thought we had a good chance to lock up the #1 seed and have a straight road to the SB. Then they stumble and suddenly just winning the division or even making the playoffs is put at risk. The psychology here is compelling: facing the very real possibility of missing the playoffs we rejoice when they turn it around and win the division. The season is now a success because we avoided a disastrous failure.  I fell for this both times in the past.  I suspect I'll fall for it hook, line & sinker again this season if it plays out this way.

So true.

It's unimaginable - but of course could happen.

I'd have to believe at that point that they created football to make me miserable.

At least the Chiefs would not make it 4 years in a row and we will still have that record (of futility).

Anyone here remember 2023?  I think we were 6-6 at one point after an OT loss to Philly.  We closed out 6-0 before winning a playoff game and then observing sacred Bills tradition of losing to KC in the playoffs.

But I'm trying to remember how much panic there was on the boards when we were at 6-6.

Too late.  We got who we got.

…our collective sinking feeling that the next gen is in play now at NFL, and we aren’t it. Josh wasn’t mad, he was sad. Very different rationale for those emotions.

It’s over when it’s over.

right now there are major flaws causing issues and they have to find a way to fix the flaws or at the minimum lessen the flaws.

They  need all these guys with injuries to get back asap.

Ive had that awful feeling throughout the past few years that a better coaching staff maximizes what we have to win. Watching Vrabel take a middling bunch to a higher level so fast just proves it. This current crew from McD, the OC, the DC and even the lesser coaches like STs etc just dont have that.

Fresh staff tends to look at things from new perspectives. A coach that #17 and all of them can see new angles from has real value. 9 yrs later…a stink of stale has set in. Yes, Vrabel is one of the 2025 poster child for new perspectives.

I don't think it's over for this group but I think it is over for this season. It's not panic. It's an intelligent assessment of the team and the competition.

There are too many injuries to overcome  and not many teams could pull that off. Those players should all be back, next season.  But there are also too many personnel mistakes and missed opportunities resulting from the GM's decisions on the draft and free agency.  Plus problems with the coaching staff. HC, OC, DC. Issues with scheme, strategy, play calling personnel use, situational in-game decisions. Add in what I sense is burnout from some of the players. I get the impression Allen is one of them. All these things are contributing to the team's unacceptable performance. All need to be addressed. Nothing can be ignored or addressed with hope. Some big changes are needed. A fresh approach and environment. Obviously, Pegula is hesitant to make big changes. He needs to resist the urge to do nothing here.
