I really wish they would at least contact Wilkins agent and get the scoop.

It wouldn't surprise me if they did.  Beane sounded really disappointed that he wasn't able to make a move yesterday...that teams decided to hang onto players rumored to be available.  Then he said he won't stop and reminded the questioner that Jordan Phillips was not on the Bills at the trade deadline last year yet played in the playoffs.

Hoecht should have made it clear to the world, that what we've been lacking is that animal who we can list as an OLB but can be put  between the Tackle and Guard.

Something we haven't done since Lorax. I personally hope Jackson will turn into that.

It hopefully opens McD's eyes to if you want pressure up front, ya gotta have the troops. Rushing fo only against 6 plus a back is so 90's....or for teams with 4 top 20 picks on the line. If ya don't wanna blitz, you gotta have the horses. Your young 2ndary will thank you, like they just did.

Sure but he would be a complimentary piece here not a piece that changes the offense dramatically. He isn't the guy that can just flat out win outside against press coverage. Was that worth what it took to get him? I'd probably have been willing to offer a 4th this year and a 5th next year. But that isn't as good as the Seahawks offer. And that is about as high I'd have gone.

I suspect Beane felt similarly about Shaheed. I also suspect (based on the quotes from his presser) that he was trying to make a bigger move - Olave or Waddle most likely.

I look forward to this board losing its mind when Beane goes heavy defense in the draft again next year.

Anyone that acts surprised when it happens is new or already lost. They basically have to go heavy defense because to replace Milano, another DT, another DE, maybe a MLB, another safety.

Niners GM John Lynch on the trade deadline:

“We weren’t going to get fleeced,” Lynch said on KNBR, via 49ersWebzone.com. “We weren’t going to overpay. It’s just not good business. And, as they say, sometimes the best deals you do are the ones you don’t do. And I felt like, in this case, we felt like, as an organization, that was the best course, and as I mentioned before, we have a lot of belief.”

I have not heard anyone mention this: Should we have tried to get Adonai Mitchell from Indy?  They essentially gave him away to the Jets…I know Mitchell does some knuckleheaded things, but he’s got exactly the skill set we are looking for in our WR room and he’s got 2.5 years left on his rookie deal.  It’s possible Indy would have refused to trade him to a potential rival like the Bills, but I’m guessing they would have unloaded him for a 4th.  And it’s hard to imagine that the Jets would have refused two firsts for Sauce…

100% we should’ve went after him. Probably could’ve got him for a 5th and he’s got insane upside if you watched him in college. Great route runner in college too imo

This guy cares more about the future than the present

I have never read a more perfect description of Beane
