First thought with Hoecht out would be Calais Campbell to fill that role where he can rush from interior or outside.  Concerns would be salary (unsure of hit) & if the player has interest in playing up here?

We’ve been interested in him before. A visit was scheduled but never happened because he signed with Atlanta

with AZ at 2-5, maybe he wants a shot on a contender

I think Calais wouldn’t do it. Wanted to head his career where it started. But I agree about him being a great fit— what an amazing player!

I am thinking Jalen Phillips from the dolphins, if they would trade with us.

I’ll bite:  1st, 3rd, 2027 4th, Landon Jackson

for Waddle & Phillips

I think salary cap becomes less of an issue when guys start going on IR, plus the fact there’s only 9 weeks left now.  We were borderline needing to make a move before Hoecht’s injury, think this seals the deal now.

Edit: It’s since been pointed out to me that even IR players still count towards the cap.  That sucks.

Miami would be like “uh you can keep Landon”

I'd go for Simmons now.

this would be great. Highly unlikely he’s moved short of a 1st IMO

Yeah Campbell would be perfect.  But I believe he chose to sign AZ because he wanted to finish his career where he started.  Maybe he has a home there?  IDK

I guess you have to wonder if playing meaningful games would be better than playing meaningless games in his preferred location.

Would

Would love. Extremely unlikely NYG moves him unless someone offers a 1st ++

It would require extreme salary cap maneuvering/restructuring by Beane.

I can’t see anyone offering that much for a DT. He’s not Donald good.

Where do we get the cap space to bring just one of those players in?

Waddle is an easy fit at least. Miami could retain some $ if we toss in an extra pick

I think you just examine where you think the bigger need is at with 1T v. 3T.

We should get Jones back within the next two games (hopefully this one coming up). It's pretty clear Daquan Jones is a 1T and Jordan Phillips is a 3T. But then you have Deone Walker and Larry Ogunjobi, who can play both spots. I think you start Jones and Walker alongside the other and rotate in.

I'd imagine you go out and get a 3T as Phillips, while playing admirably, isn't someone you want to rely on.

Edge we're okay at, even with Hoecht's injury. Don't think we need Jalen Phillips (and I don't think they'd trade him to us). Bosa is playing lights out, still have Groot and Epenesa (who is playing well as an off the bench option) and we were sitting Landon Jackson simply bc we were so loaded there that we didn't need him. Now he'll finally see action.
