It's the beauty of the game...

Something always gives.  How many games really go that deep... It wasn't going to go really any farther...

How can you NOT tune in.

Watching history!

I go to bed early mate. and baseball well you know my stance on that. I am squarely a baseball world series baseball fan only.

I'm just not that invested.  Beyond being in the city that despises the dodgers.  I've got a pic for you from my bestie a Padres seasons ticket holder. lol  No Love Lost ZERO

Go Blue Jays 🙂

What is the cap limit currently at in baseball?

Nothing.  The way it should be!

In over 30 years since the cap in sports, only baseball has a more diverse sampling of different teams being there OR winning it all.

I'd be for a salary cap IFF the cap is set to whatever the cheapest team is willing to spend.🤣... That would be awesome!

Part of the reason it went 18 innings is that everyone swings for the fences… no more small ball(singles, stolen bases, sacrifice bunts, etc…).

Great game, but baseball has become home runs & strike outs.

This is a bit like the Yankees facing Richard Prior on the mound.

It does create a competitive disadvantage for the small market teams. The Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Red Sox spend on a level that teams like the Pirates, Royals, and Rays never will as some examples. I don't mind it being a Yankees fan, but many teams can't compete financially with the top spending teams.

Does that mean MLB can strip John Fisher from owning the Athletics and give the franchise to someone committed to winning baseball?

Sure.  Franchises should be community owned anyway...😉

Most baseball players in the majors were stars at both ways before they reached college or the minor leagues and then they get specialized

Shohei is just the modern day babe Ruth..  and I made a thread here before he even came to the majors about him saying he's Japan's babe Ruth

He's just a once in a lifetime once every hundred years talent

he is fun to watch. By all accounts a  family man nice  guy from what I've read too. But he's a Dodger so my bestie has  jaded me LOL

Pobrecita. He is her teams clear nemesis.  He's the Real Deal. Japans Babe Ruth indeed. I have read that comparison before. That's WOW too.

The power he puts into his swing when he hits a homerun is also wow. Just impressive. Plus he's handsome lol DANG.

Without a doubt the most talented baseball player I've ever seen

Thank goodness he decided to come to America because most of the world would have no idea how amazing he is if he stayed in the Japanese pro league

A major league outfielder, pitcher , and swings the best bat in the world... Not to mention he throws 103

Achieving greatness is not as difficult when you literally buy all of the best available  players and have a $415M payroll. But does this even include all the put-off Bobby Bonilla style deferred payment schedule they gave Ohtani?

Red Sox fan here. Clearly spend more than a lot of teams. But have spent a lot less in the past 5-6 years of penny-pinchin' (despite having the highest ticket prices in the league) and shed a bunch more with the Devers trade. Nice that we've rebuilt the farm system and a bunch of those players have now come up and done well.

There absolutely needs to be a salary cap. And a salary floor. Having 8-10 competitive teams and 20+ that spend less on their entire operation than the Yankees spend on sunflower seeds is just terrible. The cheap owners don't re-invest what they get in ticket, concessions, parking, media deals, and just pocket millions.

so do you think he is a better pitcher or hitter?  Supreme at both. That's just wild

YEP I did too

the bitterness flows from my friend. she is as padre fan as I am for the Bills.  Even a half season ticket for the Padres is a massive time investment

Hitter. Marginally. I guess it’s subjective as you can make a case for him being the better at either.

An Elite baseball player on both sides.

I mean he's definitely an ace pitcher but he's had some wear and tear on his elbow which has hampered his ability to start  25+ games a year

Dodgers didn't even pitch him in the regular season last year.. and only like 13 times this season

But in a win or take all series he's going to be nearly impossible to hit in late October with his speed and ability to overpower

But he's going to get the Barry bonds treatment at bat now they should walk him every single time

they probably will because they CAN. I honestly think that rule needs to be changed. One man, if capable, SHOULD be able to decide games. Pitching around him to me reads chicken. I want to see greatness. jmo
