I can think of at least a dozen, if not two dozen, teams that would kill for our coaching and GM situation over the last 5-7 years or so. I think too many of us as fans completely lack any sense of perspective.

If you're someone who thinks it was all Allen, we know what Allen looks like when he's not in the right headspace.  It isn't pretty.  Allen could easily have flamed out despite his physical gifts.  We've seen that story play out over and over again in this league.

Or maybe, he has finally come to grips with how he has been and is being leaned on for offensive production without premium help since Diggs…..

- 2nd most wins in the NFL over the past 5 seasons

- Probably 2nd most playoff wins too, (I didn’t check)

- Broke the 17 year drought with a backup QB

- Made the AFCCG last season in what was supposed to be a “reset” year (we had ridiculous dead cap)

 

I am sympathetic to the “we’ll never win a Super Bowl with McDermott” take, but it’s pretty obvious why he still has a job.
