"Investment" also invloves draft picks.  *Higgins was the 33rd pick.  Chase was selected 5th overall the following year.

There's a zero percent chance Beane drafts Higgins one year, then turns around and grabs Chase the following year.  The pick, almost certainly, would have been Surtain II.

They do not value the position like Cinci or Philly does or else they'd take more chances than they have over the years.  Trading a 3rd for 30 year old Amari Cooper isn't the same thing.

They've had a very "moneyball" way of filling the position.

*And Smith makes $7M more than Shakir AAV.

Most of us would love for the Bills to draft more pass catchers. But it’s not like they don’t draft anyone. They got a starter in the 3 drafts before this year in Shakir, Kincaid, and Coleman.

The Bengals didn’t just drafted those two guys. They paid them high end market value to keep them. Not all teams would do that. I think they made a mistake by doing so and it’s showing on the field.

Again, your original statement of Bills not investing in pass catchers is simply not true. They have invested plenty in that area. Have all those investments hit? That’s a different story.

And look at the impact they've had on their QB.

Definitely leading the league in biggest headache category.

If this season continues the way it has, Brown and Smith will definitely have a big impact on their QB.

A few decades back the Bills were just like the Browns are today.  (Hank Bullough era)  In those days, the Lions were the only team as bad as the Bills I think.  Times change it appears.

Must be something in that Lake Erie water...

Browns are a qb from being good  That defense is amazing  Bills need new coach/gm that ready to change philosophy or go all in on Allen with real talent at wr

Nah their o-line is atrocious.  They may need 4 new starters next year.

Next years draft for QB is terrible.

They should take two bookend tackles and a WR with their first round and second round picks.

Then try to get lucky with a veteran reclamation project like the Colts this year and Vikings last year.

I wouldn’t be too quick to pi$$ on the Browns.  They need to figure out the qb situation.

in the mean time McD and BB  cant figure out how to surround JA with what he needs.  So far it’s been wash rinse repeat season to season.

It’s interesting to speculate who that would be. Zach Wilson is the only one that I can think of. Maybe Will Levis?

Kirk Cousins would be first choice

Mac Jones seems to be doing well in a new environment and could be an option. He was decent in New England as a rookie before it all fell apart.

If the QB class next year had a few stars I would say try and draft your QB. But at this point I dont even see a single college QB that has a first round value. Their last draft is looking very good right now outside of the QBs. With one more draft he can completely rebuild the o-line, get out of the Watson contract with a post June 1 cut, and maybe chase Cousins. They don't have any key free agents that I know of right off the top of my head except their TE. And he has been injured every year including this year. They also got unlucky with a very good OLB having a neck injury that is probably career ending.

They had a brutal first six games but now they have Raiders and Titans coming up. They could be 4-5 by mid November.

Idk, what's the difference between going 5-12 or 12-5 if you don't win the Super Bowl? Draft position?

For me, the difference is games I want to watch on a random Sunday in early December.

I think we forget how bad the bad old days were. After Thanksgiving I lost a lot of interest in the Bills and the NFL in general. We're spoiled now.

Remember that comedian talking about the Bills being the best and taking your kids to the pumpkin patch.
