ATL might only be 2-2 but I straight up think this is going to be a difficult game. On the road vs one of the best RBs and a very good defense well rested coming off a long bye week while we're desperately looking towards just getting to our bye week in one piece to get some relief from absent guys.

We've had games like Sunday where we appeared to be cooked only to come out swinging the next week so we should win but I thought they'd pull their ***** together for NE and clearly they didn't, at least not until it was too late and the game got away from them.

I have been over this game left and right so that I can get my feelings out of my analysis, and here's what I got. I know everyone is mad about the defense and that's become the narrative, but they played well enough to win that stupid game. They held the Pats to 23 points (only 2 TDs) and forced 4 punts and a turnover. We had 3 turnovers and 2 punts. Equal number of stops, but one of their stops was a fumble and a gift of 3 points. Those 3 points were the difference in the game. This loss was on the offense and general sloppiness. Just don't turn the ball over 3 times and have crushing, drive-killing penalties, and we'll be OK.

For example, the Bills were driving on their first drive and were going to score. FUMBLE!. On the second drive after the Pats fumble, Ty Johnson ran off the right edge for 8 yards, setting up a 2nd and short in Pats territory. All negated by an illegal formation penalty. And it was a penalty because Palmer was a yard behind the LoS.

If Josh just takes the sack instead of throwing that pick in the 3rd, we get an almost certain 3 points and win the game.

So for this week, here are the goals:

  1. Don't turn the ball over!
  2. Line up correctly!
  3. Keep contain when the QB scrambles!

The Bills are usually pretty good not turning the ball over. I won't get on them for one bad game on Sunday. I wish Beane could get a true #1 WR in here. It would open everything up for everyone else. Shakir, Kincaid, etc, not to mention Cook would be a lot more dangerous if opposing defenses had to focus more on the WR's. As it stands only Allen and Cook are what opposing defenses focus on. Teams don't fear on WRs and TEs.

Bills wearing the white, standing buffalo throwbacks.

Atlanta had a bye. Outside of the Carolina stinker, they’ve played well.

I think the Bills drop another game here.

The teams they beat were the JJ McCarthy-led Vikings, who looked inept, and the Commanders, who were missing Daniels and McLaurin. You never know what is going to happen, but if you don't think the BIlls win this game then you think they will end up a 6-7 win team.

And they should have won against Tampa.

Do we need to go over who the Bills have struggled to win against?

If they didn't fear our WRs and TEs, then why did the Patriots play with a 2-deep shell for the majority of the game?

I should expect a focused, and embarrassed, team to show up every day at practice this week and on Sunday.
I’d love to know what Coleman did to draw the wrath of McDermott. Distractions are not what this team needs and he is not helping his own cause. He needs to get his head out if his ass and be a professional.

I think he was late on gameday.

And we should have won against the Pats and be 5-0. You can come up with a reason that any team can win against any other in this league.

5 wins is your prediction? Because there are no "easy" games left until week 18:

  • Falcons (already a loss)
  • @ Panthers: Beat Falcons and Miami, so tough out
  • Chiefs (no way we can beat them)
  • @ Fins (As you say, we struggled to win at home)
  • Bucs (No way we can beat them)
  • @ Texans (They got Chubb and Collins)
  • @ Steelers (4-1 right now and rolling)
  • Bengals (How can we stop Chase and Higgins with this defense)
  • @ Pats (They destroyed us by a huge 3 points at home, so how can we stop them in NE?)
  • @ Browns (Best defense in the league)
  • Eagles (Defending SB Champs)
  • Jets (OK, maybe we win this one)

So using your logic, the Bills end up at 5-12 with pretty much the same roster that went 13-4 last year. Too bad they banked those early-season wins. All they do is screw up our draft pick.

You aren’t even worth replying to. Because I think they’ll possibly lose to Atlanta, on the road, means I think they’ll only win 5 games?

Seriously, GTFO with your stupid BS. I won't be replying to you after this.

Call me an optimist, but I think the Bills look good in this one and win comfortably.  There are reasons for concern, but my gut says they come out remind people why they are considered a contender.

What are you referring to, please?

He was benched for the first series of the game for detrimental conduct during the week.

I guess. The Bills should trade for Jermaine Burton. He and Keon can be late together.

That team has Bijan Robinson and Drake London among others, and a rising defense…that’s a tough out

Their defense is the biggest issue at this point. Their offense has been very up or down, but the defense all season has been very good all season. Top in yards allowed and top defense against the pass. The one flaw is their run defense which could favor Buffalo if they can eliminate the penalties, but they have a lot of youth they invested in on the defensive line.

Penix is starting just his 8th game so he is still very green which means you will get some good and some bad. The game to me comes down to the Bills running it down their throats and not letting Penix get comfortable in the pocket. If one of those things happen they still win but close, if both happens probably closer to blow out, if neither happens could be Sunday all over again.

I 100% agree, and I think in my 3 up and 3 down I alluded to it...  I agree this was not their worst game... wasnt great... but not their worst... but at some point is it too  much to ask the defense to get a stop when the game is on the line...  Stats, non stats, all 22 etc... I get it... but Josh didnt wear a cape, the turnovers were horrid, but can the Defense step up when Josh is pedestrian and we turn it over a couple of times on the last drive?  I just dont have confidence in that... and to me to win it all that has to happen on occasion...

I think the bolded is wrong. Josh was Josh but not getting ANY help outside of Kincaid as far as receivers getting separation, the running game and play calling.

Joe Marino's All-22 review today was interesting because it outlined our failure to take advantage of the Pats base defense in the passing game. He also emphasizes how much better Josh was on his review than he thought initially. Basically, outside of 4 plays he talks about specifically, Josh was excellent. And yeah we can talk about those 4 plays all day like the pass he didn't make to Samuel after leaving a clean pocket, but as essentially the last play in the passing game for a game where he watched his weapons get no separation, maybe Josh was justified in thinking he needed to roll out to give him more of that run/pass option.

Also would have been nice to see the obvious DPI flag thrown.

Early reports are confirming that Babich and his defensive assistants will devote most of the week to trying to convince Rapp, Bishop, White and Benford that the players in the other jerseys catching the ball is a bad thing. Also in the news, as a nod to the painfully obvious, the interior d line will be taught strategic fall placement in hopes of potentially creating a tripping hazard as all efforts to actually tackle an opponents running back have proven futile.
