Buffalo Ballin Posted Tuesday at 02:10 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:10 PM It's over for him. 99% sure he's fired after this season is over. 1 1 1 Quote
Low Positive Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:11 PM I'm not going to defend him anymore. I said after the Saints game when @Mister Defense first made this argument that if we wanted him fired, we would have to see two ugly losses in a row. Well, here we are. The Pats game wasn't really an ugly loss, but the first half of that stupid game last night counts for like 5 ugly losses. I won't be surprised to learn that McDermott took over the defense in the second half of the game last night. It was more than a halftime adjustment; it was a whole different scheme. The only hope that I have for this season (slim at best) is that they can play like that (attacking defense with a higher precentage of man coverage) but better once guys come back. Babich need to be fired, and fired TODAY, or McDermott will lose the locker room if he already hasn't. 1 Quote

That makes literally, and I mean that literally no sense at all. A business has a manager at a high level position, one of the top 3 positions in a multi billion dollar company, and he is clearly failing miserably, consistently, and no real signs of progress. You would not say, "Let's let him keep doing this even though he is clearly undermining the success of a significant portion of the company, and his continued tenure means almost no chance of success"... You would not wait until the end of the year to fire that person, you would not put your company at risk and all who depend on it. If you know he is failing, and miserably failing, you would fire him. If you are now "99% sure" he is fired after the season, why the heck would you let such an incompetent person continue on this path when there is 65% of the season remaining?? That is not being nice but stupid. And that would only mean McDermott and Beane would also be acting incompetently as well, and putting their own jobs at risk, maybe for the first time. I love when McD talks about the defensive performance and has that shocked look on his face as he trashes their fundamentals. He knows. And will not wait until January. Buffalo Ballin Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Yeah, we can fire him now if you'd like. I don't care. We don't have a defense anyway. A catheter bag full of piss would get the same results as Babich. 3 Quote

All this is true, but the NFL is literally a league of slow moving coaching and management idiots that apparently need to see something happen a dozen times before recognizing it as a pattern. The Bills are no different. Babich should be fired not only because he is incompetent but because it shows accountability. Nobody on the Bills staff should feel comfortable in their jobs including McD. But lets be honest I think McD has significant leverage over Beane because he got Beane the job. McD has to take accountability for the hiring of these coaches and their poor performance. At this point I would get rid of Babich immediately and McD should take over the defense (not that the thought thrills me). Beane needs to get Brady some weapons for Josh and his offense (but he wont, or Brady wont use them properly). Brady should be canned too or just let Josh call the plays. The problem with all of this is that football is the worst sport to make an in season change in. Often a coaching move in the NHL, NBA, MLB or soccer will boost a team but football is a different animal. Quote
bubba2018 Posted Tuesday at 02:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:39 PM Can we stop taking the only players who are doing well off the field ESPECIALLY on the D Line and ESPECIALLY on 3rd down. Why the flip is Deone Walker being taken out PERIOD. Can we stop with this stupid ***** rotation on the defense and put the best 11 out there i mean jesus christ is this coaching staff ever going to learn? 1 Quote

In games after ugly defensive performances, they often look like a completely different defense, and in all respects. Such as last week against the Pats, a much different defense than against the Saints. As if somehow a competent angel has taken over the brain of the incompetent Babbich and eliiminated all of his own thoughts about defense, replacing them with good thoughts. If so, then McD knows more than us that he has a rotting lemon on his hands, and needs to can it today. And that each day he waits it undermines his team and all who depend on it. Quote

Yes, but people were often saying the same thing about firing Brady in the middle of the season--won't happen, too risky for NFL teams to do that, as it almost never works out.... But, as with Babbich now, it seems the ONLY plausible thing to do would be to move on, that keeping him is the ultimate risky move now--keeping someone in this vital job who is not just bad, but seems awful, like he does not know what he is doing. Like with Dorsey, I think we both get our wish now--and Babbich is out very soon. Hopefully today, but no later than just as the bye week begins. 1 Quote

I don’t agree with that. Walker is 6’7” and about 330. Dexter Lawrence is 6’4 and around 340. Lawrence is receiving about 40% more of his team’s defensive snaps than Walker is. That is a substantial amount more. IMO, it’s more because Walker is a rookie and the Bills philosophy has been to always rotate their d-linemen. Edited Tuesday at 02:53 PM by Walking Tall 2 Quote
NoSaint Posted Tuesday at 02:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:53 PM some of the packages on season defining types of plays are super strange Not a specific example here but feel like we’ve seen big big moments with ray davis, Gilliam, Knox, shavers out there like at some point do you need your 5 best on the field for 4th down, 2 pointers, etc….. 13 minutes ago, WEATHER DOT COM said: Because he is over 330 pounds and does not have the stamina to play 100% of the time. so it is your stance that his exact play count is perfect and can’t be questioned at all? No, they will NEVER learn as McDermott is his own worst enemy. Coach Andy Reid saw that in Philadelphia and he fired McDermott as D Coordinator years ago. Andy knows people and look what hes done with KC. I wonder how tired our D players get from running sprints on and off the field. Ever wonder why we cant stop the run? Could be because of the ongoing rotations the players never get to read the other players traits or nuances so playing as a team will never happen. McDermott thinks people can be used like a plug and play machine. They cant as were human. He also needs to stop wth the Boy Scouts and Jesus stuff as Jesus wants nothing to do with him. Thats why hes never been to a Super Bowl. 1 Quote
