Absolutely I agree but something that makes it a long-term tradition would be team and fan standing

Dawson Knox and all those players will be gone eventually so Mr brightside won't have the same effect on the new kids coming in

Which is why I think it's different than the shout song.. which Bridges generations and ages and sex

That's a tradition for this team probably not Bill's teams for the next 30 years

Why is it different? Shout remains relevant because the fans embraced it and have carried it along. Why shouldn’t we expect the same thing to happen with Mr. Brightside? It’s happened with 7 Nation Army, Zubaz, “where else would you rather be,” and others? All of those traditions started at some point.

Probably because 99% of fans if not 100% of fans love the shout song .. it was made to be the bills anthem

Mr brightside is obviously very popular but  I don't know if I see 20 years of tradition brewing

There's plenty of people even here who are meh about Mr brightside.. I don't think it's going to have much legs in 10 years when most of this team is gone

And contemporary music ebbs and flows.. there will be another popular song that resonates eventually.. in 2035 they'll probably pick a song from 2020

This got started because of Dawson knox's wedding when all those guys are gone it's not going to hit the same for the new team who have no correlation to Knox

I guess I strongly disagree. I’m there every week and the crowd goes CRAZY when it comes on. Lol, this isn’t a contemporary song. It’s 22 years old!! 🤣Drew Bledsoe was entering his 2nd year as the Bills QB when the song was released.

Well that's why I said 2035 they'll pick a song from 2020 lol so I was off by a few years but my point is this isn't really going to resonate with 23-year-old pro in 20 years

But the shout song since it is the Bill's anthem resonates.. you might be right but I don't see a 22-year-old athlete bumping to Mr brightside in 2038

The people there now that was the music they grew up in during their childhood .. 20 years it will be a new demographic

These things all started somewhere. This old song resonated with the team so they brought it to the fans. The fans loved it. I fully expect the crowd to be singing along to Mr. Brightside long after this group is gone. The crowd loves it. It’s Sweet Caroline for the Red Sox (eff those guys). Maybe the players won’t be as hyped in a decade but the crowd sure will.

I hear what you are saying

Its a catchy song.. for me as a Bills anthem it's a song about cheating and cuckolding I just don't see where that's a long-term anthem really

it caught fire with this Buffalo Bills team

Listen if it's getting fans pumped up in 20 years I won't complain!

Yeah, the topic of the song is odd. So is Sweet Caroline. Obviously it’s not the same but the point is sometimes these things take off regardless of the topic. No one really cares what it’s about. 7 Nation Army is another song from 2003 that’s still around and is pointless. I just don’t see how something that the people love so much, associated with a team that they’ll always love, will just disappear?

to your point the song has already shown multi generational staying power.

This isn’t a flash in the pan from last years top 40, it’s a song that this teams parents were into  as young adults and now their kids on the team were shouting at their wedding

and what’s happening now? Kids in the stands are getting hooked (as are kids around the country because it’s a culturally popular song outside Buffalo)

I don’t know if it’ll be a multi decade staple in the stadium but it does have a lot of the makings as long as you don’t hyperanalyze it. This is a keep it simple topic: people like that song on a gut level because you scream it with your friends at parties and in bars and at weddings and now at the stadium.

Don’t the Steelers always play some dirtbag 70s hard rock song that still whips a whole stadium up after 50 years?

Translation: Please buy lots of white merchandise so we can make more money.

I have the ice white hoodie which I think is great, however I hate the jerseys as it makes them look like the cowboys

The crowd was very meh when they played it during Sunday’s saints game
