Reminder that Trump is ABSOLUTELY pushing to end Kimmel and anyone he doesn’t like on television.

Television counts as legacy media, doesn’t it? A few hours ago, you (laughably) claimed that legacy media was in Trump‘s back pocket.

Yes, they pulled Kimmel in the first place. Luckily there seem to be some sane liberal voices left

Remember when Megyn here criticized Trump? Just another one that fallen completely in line with the regime. Morally bankrupt old crone.

He didn’t apologize.

He said “I’m sorry you were offended.”

The framing is entirely intentional.

Trump is determined to self own on this if he keeps it up.

Sometimes he does stuff and it works out in the end and I eat my words, but this is just annoying - as a conservative who cannot stand Jimmy - to watch him continue to go down this road with Kimmel.

You think some of this is rooted in Trump’s media/entertainment background?

In a country with Freedom of Speech, apologies are not required. He may be wrong on the facts but he has the right to say it. Watch or don’t watch. When has Trump and MAGA ever apologized for wrong statements or lies about others. The answer is Never. And that’s how it goes in America.

Well, he really blew his chance last night.

Jimmy Kimmel chokes up as he explains Kirk comments, says he 'never' intended to mock assassination

The Left doesn't like it when you change their 'narrative'

and the Right knows that he is lying.

He pleases no one.

The only issue I have is that he’s basically on the air, like Colbert was, as an in-kind contribution to the Democrat Party on airwaves that are supposed to have equal airtime for both sides.

Thats clearly been warped to become networks that, 90% of the time, support and platform the DNC .. even in the face of profit as these late night shows lose money and have next to zero viewership.

Republicans pressuring affiliates to go on the offensive was working … and then Trump clumsily jumps in and makes Kimmel a folk hero to the left.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Return Was as Bad as You Knew It Would Be.

By Matt Margolis

FTA:

When Kimmel addressed the controversy that got him suspended — you know, when he lied about Charlie Kirk’s killer being a MAGA supporter — he grew serious and even appeared to get emotional. He disavowed the idea that he had joked about a murder and explained that he was much too fine a person to do any such thing. And he took pains to disconnect the assassination from any political ideology:

But I do wanna make something clear, because it’s important to me as a human, and that is, uh, you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. Uh, I don’t, I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.

Of course, this was a deflection from the lie that got him in trouble. No one had accused him of making light of the murder or suggesting it was funny.

I posted a message on Instagram on the day he was killed, sending love to his family and asking for compassion, and I meant it, and I still do. Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual.

You can see what Kimmel is doing here. He’s not only trying to absolve himself of pushing the lie that Tyler Robinson was a MAGA supporter, but he's also conveniently taking the position that Robinson was just “disturbed” and not a radicalized leftist.

Keep in mind that Kimmel’s original monologue wasn't off the cuff. It was pre-written. So when he said what he said about Robinson, he didn’t misspeak; he meant every pre-approved word of it.

So, he didn’t admit that he was wrong. Rather, he insisted that his words were merely misinterpreted. No mea culpa at all.

It really doesn’t matter. MAGA and Republicans have Fox with 24 hour programming echoing the voice of Trump. Twitter and its algorithm are run by a member of Trumps administration. The are other conservative networks, pods and radio. There is no lack of media pushing the MAGA message. Networks can run whatever they want. Watch or don’t, but government shouldn’t interfere.
