The OpenAI o3 model ignored “shut down” orders and found ways to circumvent them. I hope researchers don’t tie this sucker into any nuclear launch systems!

Sequel to Hancock is due soon, I am Legend ll is supposedly a go. Would seem I.Robot be next, all three would surely do well.

When I saw that movie, I thought the idea of a speaking computer was so cool.  Within about 30 years,  we had them at home.

When I was a kid we had a phone in the kitchen on a party line, and you could go to the library and look things up in an encyclopedia. Now my 11 year old son has a phone in wis pocket with virtually all the wisdom of mankind at his fingertips. This is his “normal”.  What else will he see in his lifetime??? 

 

I have no idea where this AI stuff is going, but I know enough to have some very real concerns.
