Gugny Posted Sunday at 04:34 PM Posted Sunday at 04:34 PM When I was young, we always named pets (cats) after famous people. Nipsy (Russell) Mookie (Wilson) Rebbie (Jackson) My first cat after going out on my own was Janis (Joplin). The only other pet I named after someone was Maceo (Parker) - inspired by a Jane’s Addiction song. 2 Quote
Augie Posted Sunday at 06:29 PM Posted Sunday at 06:29 PM I’m surprised this didn’t come to me first! It’s the dog at my feet! The last fun thing we did before Covid shut things down was seeing To Kill A Mockingbird on Broadway. (Awesome, btw!) We had been in line with the breeder for a while and went a couple weeks before pickup of the puppy to make our selection. It turns out our dog’s mother was named Scout. We just looked at each other and thought of the play. Our dog had been named. Funny little tidbit……everybody wanted puppies during the lockdown because it was a perfect time to train a dog. The breeder told me “if I had a hundred puppies, I could sell them all this weekend.” Quote

We have a rescue dog (Pops) and two cats (Wilma & Maxine) adopted from the SPCA. Whatever name they came with is their name as far as I am concerned... Previously, we had a very young cat left on our doorstep by it's mother - a feral cat we sometimes fed. We took Fred to the vet and then kept him for 17 years till he passed away... 1 Quote
BritBill Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Plenty of cats over the years. Currently have Woody after the cowboy in Toy Story (my son's idea at the time) but I like to think it's named after Eric Wood. Also, Lily which I've no idea why. We got her in 2007 and she's a good old girl. Still climbing fences and being mischievous. Over the years we've had Morph (after a plasticine TV character), Mia (after Mrs Mia Wallace) and my favourite, Walwyn. He was named after one of my soccer club's legendary players. A big daft beautiful boy. Quote
