Lions withdraw proposal to alter playoff seeding

Never gonna happen ($$).  Half of the league gets into the postseason tournament, just like the two other major sports (NBA/NHL).  Baseball is its own animal and they play too many games as it is.

 

Adding one team in each conference won't water down anything, and it only adds one more game.  Nothing else changes; you still have 2v7, 3v6, and 4v5.

 

Makes too much sense not to do this.

might as well just have two divisions in that case, the nfc and the afc.

Many are complaining about below .500 playoff teams, but that has so rarely happened that it should not be seriously considered as something that needs to be addressed.

Oh I get the motivation, and that it will drive the change whether I like it or not. And just like everything else, the endless pursuit of any additional dollar (when they are already making Trillions) will only ruin the product in the long run. Enjoy it while we have it, I guess.

 

Disagree that it doesnt water it down tho. Anything additional will water it down. And we're already to the point of crappy teams making it in.

Thats fair, but does anyone doubt the Bills are an elite team? Pats* won it 18 times but nobody doubted their greatness

 

The texans have won 2 playoff games to be fair, I'm just not sold on them winning their division this year. If the Colts had decent QB play and the Jags can finally get out of the own way, that division gets much tougher

IIRC, since the league eliminated the bye week for the #2 Seed, Buffalo has been the #2 Seed every season.
