China is at least as trustworthy as the US. In 5 months trump has supported Ukraine, stopped support 5 times.

The US once considered mutual interests with allies and friends to be their policy, now the full selfish approach, the untrustworthy approach has become the mantra.

A country, or for that matter a person can be fully selfish yet trustworthy. The US is no longer any more trustworthy than Putin or Xi.

There is no point in signing a deal with trump, he just weasels after. There is no point in signing a deal with the US they just weasel. (USMCA is signed until 2026).

Imagine signing up for the golden dome plan? Duh, with the most untrustworthy government/country.

Isolationism is great...enjoy your beer. Stiff the waitress for the tab, and drive away in your Corvette...because you can.

As I said, good luck with that China thing.  As for selfish behavior, given our long alliance with Canada, have your people ever exhibited selfish tendencies?  I'm thinking, yes.

I am thinking no....but just because your neighbour, once friend is untrustworthy, and lies, and threatens does not mean that you should.

Let's just build the fence real high, and whether we deal with China, EU, SA or even Russia, non of your business...they are no less trustworthy than our southern neighbors (neighbours).

We know trump is going to threaten 51 again, and create some phoney excuse to intervene...it is what untrustworthy bullies do.

Enjoy the beer and your Corvette. Screw the waitress.

Most Americans DO care….maga apparently not

Nobody…nobody except maybe Netanyahu trusts us….so here we are

Most American's couldn't tell you the name of the Prime Minister of Canada, the major import/exports, the political structure, political parties, the make up of their parliament, the GDP,  contributions to NATO, the largest city, ethnic makeup, history  of indigenous people, their approach to immigration, or who Tim Horton was. Liekwise, most Canadians likely know very little about the US and how everything operates.

That's not apathy, or indifference, it's just that most people live their lives on a local level.  Certainly, most would hope for the best for our neighbors to the north, and I certainly do.  Like many in WNY, I spent many summers across the bridge with Canadian family members, travelled and camped in Ontario, and got the obligatory car tossing on the way to a concert in Toronto one year at the PB.

We'll get through it, we always do.

Just because you believe people’s knowledge is limited doesn’t mean that they don’t care about US status.

As well I am quite sure NO country trusts us right now….none….nobody….worse they know by now dt is a complete sham and a fraud “negotiator”

Liar, war monger, con man, bully, criminal, etc etc etc.

The only country who is actually bargaining with the US, he threatens. He has no desire to get a deal, or even bargain...he has never honored any agreement, or commitment, he cannot, his ego will never let him.

It is my hope that Canada just allows the 35%, walks away, lets the US absorb their 35%, lets the US companies and citizens absorb the 35%, or 50% or what ever their fearless leader decides. No retaliation by Canada, just move on with the rest of the world. Just laugh...you cannot deal with an untrustworthy country. Their was already a trade deal in place until 2026...what is the point of a deal with an untrustworthy country.

Onward for Canada, EU, South America, China,

When will US citizens understand their standing in the world has been destroyed. Or do they care.

It’s just another distraction from the long list of campaign promises Trump 2.0 already broke:

  1. End all wars on day one. We’re still in the same conflicts, and tensions have only escalated.
  2. Lower gas and grocery prices on day one. Prices are still high, and there’s been no real plan to fix it.
  3. Appoint qualified cabinet members based on merit, not race. Instead, we got a cabinet of Fox News contributors, loyalists, and grifters.
  4. No new wars. Um, yeah ok.
  5. Don’t touch Medicare or Medicaid. Cuts both while giving billionaires tax breaks again.
  6. Release the Epstein file. Still sealed. Still hidden. Still lying.
  7. Drain the swamp. He just restocked it with even more corrupt insiders and loyal yes-men.
  8. Be a voice for the forgotten working class instead, he’s been targeting immigrants, union workers, and the poor.

Every time he fails, they give the infected another shiny object to rage about. Because once the outrage fades, so does the illusion.

I'm suggesting that most people won't think about Canada today, tomorrow, next week, or next year. I don't say that with malice, or in an attempt to be dismissive.  I feel like pretty much everyone knows this.

It's not unlike the fact that most Americans in, say NYS, won't think about some of the other very cool places in our country.  Council Bluffs, Iowa. Boise, Idaho.  Midland, Texas.  Sedona, Az.  I don't think I'm wrong on this--but it's entirely possible that you were up last night worrying about the condition of the bridges in/around Saskatoon, but I think that would probably make you unique.

Leh-nerd....sorry to say, no one lives in isolation, unless you are a tribe in Africa, and the fact that Americans will not think about Saskatoon  or I don't think today about Kerr county is not the point. You elect leaders to think international. You may not think about Midland Texas, or Brugge, Belgium.

But the larger, greater conscious of America should, but America today has it's head up it's own a??.

We'll get through it, Bill, hang in there.  Btw I was just thinking about a pastry shoppe in Brugge.  Delightful croissants and the service impeccable.

Are you even from NY state?

Most New Yorkers know this: the state’s economy is deeply tied to Canada whether MAGA likes it or not.

Canada is New York’s #1 trading partner, fueling billions in exports like medical instruments, jewelry, aluminum, and business services. Over 80% of NYC’s fuel oil and natural gas imports come from Canada.

Canadian tourists are essential to local economies, especially in border regions, like Buffalo Niagara, where their absence is immediately felt.

Canada also plays a major role in investment, owning significant portions of NYC real estate and employing thousands across the state and vice versa, with plenty of New Yorkers owning land and property in Canada.

And when it comes to energy? New York literally relies on Canadian hydroelectricity to keep the lights on.

From trade to tourism to energy, New York doesn’t just benefit from Canada it depends on it.

Keep it up, Lenny. Maybe someone’s buying it.

Excellent points.

And imagine a world in which things were going in the other direction, toward a true free trade zone with Canada. How great would that be for Buffalo?

Guess we'll never know.

I just can’t with these people - posting trash about Canada on a BUFFALO BILLS message board - a border town - while most of them either live or have deep roots in the region.

It’s absurd.

Everyone knows the WNY economy is closely tied to Southern Ontario.

Even the Bills being in Buffalo depends on Canadians crossing the border to Orchard Park.

The ignorance is exhausting.

What’s the point of tariffs?

No idea.  It could be part of a larger plan to get our financial house in order.

But “Economists say…..”

They couldn't even lower the tax rate brackets for us to make up for his asinine trade policy?

This is not about finance, this is about expansionism. Trump started about 51, trump started about Canada, Greenland and Panama, he has not forgotten this.

Listen to Patel, Bondi, border czars, all lies about Canada  hell even Dl Salvatorians gangs are sneaking across the border from Canada. Bonding suggesting we might have to go into Canada to stop them and fentanyl boys.

This is about destroying Canada to become Puerto Rico #2.

Don't forget that inflation on core goods is actually increasing again year over year.  Thank you, idiotic tariffs for that one.

Solid point.  I almost forget about the national backdoor sales tax that is tariffs.

Who signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and is it still in effect?

I'm asking here but wasn't that the NAFTA agreement that Clinton put into law ? I didn't know a lot about it but at the time there was quite a bit of controversy over it but I can't remember any of the particulars, alls I do remember is that there were some that were very unhappy with what the bill did as far as trade between our country's .

https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_core_inflation_rate#:~:text=Basic Info,long term average of 3.67%.

US Core Inflation Rate is at 2.79%, compared to 2.78% last month and 3.42% last year. This is lower than the long term average of 3.67%.

Don’t forget!

The only thing preventing the fed from decreasing interest rates more is his tariff policy.  Those numbers would be lower.
