What an interesting dichotomy of approach by educators and the police for this young lady who refuses to wear a glorified Kleenex over her face and mouth, v the folks in Loudon County, Virginia.  In Virginia, a young lady has accused another student of a violent sexual assault in a bathroom at the school, the school has been accused of trying to cover up the crime, and the school board had her father dragged out of a meeting for daring to raise the issue in a public forum.  Then, the diocese school administrators chose to return the alleged rapist accused student to another parish school and apparently kept the accusations from parishioners parents and potential targets school children at risk, and reportedly, the accused student may have sexually assaulted yet another student at the new parish school.

To get ahead of you on this one @B-Man, back to the topic:

Here's a couple clips of Joe Rogan interviewing Dr. Sanjay Gupta about corona virus, young people, their parents and relative risk.  I've heard Rogan on air previously, but I liked his approach here to get appropriate feedback from Dr. G.

The first clip deals with youngster and their parents.

The second clip deals with the very reason some people feel there are nefarious actors about with Gain Of Function research, the specific actions of key players, the WHO and others and fealty to China.   It certainly bolsters the suggestion by the many anti-vax-shamers to 'shut up, get in line, and don't worry about nothin!'.

During an interview with Washington, D.C.'s ABC 7 News on Oct. 12, Fauci discussed and answered viewer questions about the pandemic, natural immunity, and vaccinations. According to Fauci, when looking at decreasing COVID numbers, we should be seeing it in terms of ending the pandemic, not of getting rid of the virus for good.

"I don't think we're going to eradicate this virus, at least certainly not in the near future," he explained. According to Fauci, the U.S. has only really ever eradicated one important virus: smallpox.

Despite positive declining numbers, there is still a ways to go with vaccinations. "I believe if you look at it right now, if you look at the cases, hospitalizations, and death, they're all on a downward slope," Fauci said. "We had surges that came down but then came back up again. So although we were very thinking positively that we turned the corner and are coming down, we still have about 65 to 68 million people in the country who are eligible to be vaccinated and who have not been vaccinated."

Fauci added, "There will always be cases that are coming up and down. I don't think we're going to all of a sudden see a disappearance of it. But we've got to get it out of the pandemic, or epidemic, phase for us. If we do that, we'll be able to do so many things that really are just, like, normal. But it's up to us."

Well, your medical historian  has an interesting and mostly incorrect argument.  They have a good point that natural immunity will have an important role in mitigating this virus.  Certainly states/areas with less natural immunity will be interesting to watch in future outbreaks.  You have to wonder if low natural immunity influenced the current outbreak in Washington and Oregon.

But we would have many more deaths and morbidity if we hadn't taken preventative measures.

You can look to  Russia, pessimistic philosophy and distrustful of their government, the populace mostly chooses to tough it out.  Vaccinations were under 20% for the longest time and have finally climbed over 30%.  Check out their graphs:

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/russia/#graph-cases-daily

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/russia/#graph-deaths-daily

No return to baseline after surges and escalating baselines and surges.  Hopefully this data speaks for itself.

Go look at how isolation and masking affected the flu last year.  Experts think some substrains died out completely.  Will we have record numbers this year?  We'll see.

But Covid will not die out.  It is here to stay, it just needs to be better controlled and lower circulating.  The more it circulates the more it mutates.  Lockdowns allowed medicine and science time to understand/adapt to Covid, masking/distancing helped slow the spread to mostly manageable levels.  Now we need to lower its circulation through vaccination, especially in the rest of the world.

The interesting thing will be how China adapts, given its most prevalent vaccines are not very good and with no natural populace immunity.  We are a global community and I suspect they will have a price to be paid in the future.

I find it funny that an idea that is impossible to recreate, and therefore not provable either way, you call incorrect. If Covid ripped through our country in the first 5 months of 2020 and we all had natural immunity before it was able to mutate we very well might be better off now. The simple fact that " you are right" because you say so with literally no historical precedents to reference is interesting.

Wait a minute - just you WAIT A MINUTE - isn't Kyrie supposed to:

Shut Up And Dribble

Being forced to participate in a science experiment isn't the same thing as opining on divisive cultural issues.

Great to see that you've realized your side is a bunch of nazi lunatics and you don't know how to handle it.

On the one hand, you're a communist.  On the other, you've been railing against tyranny and that this would only be 15 days and anyone that said this leads to a biomedical police state complete with vaccine cards and micro chips were all crazy right wing conspiracies.  Oops.

No vaccine for the flu, you're fired.  Brought to you by OSHA!  But we just want to slow the spread.....................sure.

Your side should be swept into the ash heap of history.

Do you get the flu shot every year?

Enough already.

Guess what? It's constitutional, and it has been for a century:

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2021/07/20/federal-judge-upholds-indiana-universitys-covid-19-vaccine-requirement

The Indiana University case cites two early 20th century Supreme Court cases upholding vaccine mandates.

Vaccine relucatance - or worse, outright anti-vaxxer sentiment - is about to turn an acute, time-limited problem into a never-ending problem. If the percent vaccinated doesn't uptick considerably in the next couple months, look forward to online education, mask mandates, maxed-out emergency rooms, travel bans, all that fun stuff all over again.

We've heard you anti-vaxxers. Six months into mass vaccination and your irrational fears have been dispelled. For the obstinate "I won't get vaccinated just because they want us to" -- why they hell did Trump and Melania and family get vaccinated if it's some kind of radical lefty plot?

There's still time. Start with simple things: let private businesses require proof of vaccination status. It's their damn business, it's just a continuation of that old "We Reserve Right to Refuse Service to Anyone" sign that I grew up with. If that isn't working, proceed to the next step: vaccine mandates for various higher-risk activities like colleges, in-person high school attendance, air travel. If that isn't working, then go full-on vaccine mandate.

When did we get to be a country of such whiners? It's there, it's free (at least to you, the recipient), it's working, it's the way out of this mess. Do. It. Now.

I am for vax, but ones choice

Your stupidity knows no bounds.

When you can't win an argument or make a valid point, insult.

Par for the course for you and your fellow sick and deranged leftist friends.

Tell me, does it infuriate you to know how badly wrong you've been about all this now approaching year 3 of cowardly hysteria?

But at least the "adults" making the decisions had childhoods.

Year.  3.   But the end and return to some sort of kind of maybe sorta normalcy is so close!   Just need the cases to go down "a good amount."

Hey did they peak yet?  Can we roll back the clips of Scumdancer calling those projections all wrong as he was rooting for the mandate free state to suffer and die....

They peak?  How can that be with maskless school in session!?
