They are books, not porn. Everybody who is not a florida idiot knows that

So the parent who was shut down at the school board meeting was not reading porn? Please explain how you defend this?

It is easy to defend. Meatball, jock politician, should not be banning any books. He is not an authority, he is a power hungry politician

Covering all the bases.

It’s not porn. Followed by it’s ok that it’s porn. 🤦

DeSantis has a 60%+ approval rating in Florida.

Won by an enormous re-election amount.

Parents of school children in Florida overwhelmingly support him in “banning these books”.

“DeSantis must allow pornographic imagery in school libraries”

ugh.  igniting social justice in an English/ELA class?

maybe focus on reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and so on

And in what sub section is that book, "best selling"?

From Amazon

This practical book provides teachers with step-by-step guidance for developing a class culture that welcomes curiosity and ignites social action. Student-driven inquiry has a lasting impact on learning, yet questions posed from students’ own contexts rarely serve to shape their understanding of the outside world. The authors show teachers how to use literature to introduce characters and worlds that exist outside of their students’ lived experiences. Through this exposure, students can develop questions that seek to build empathy for others, which ultimately positions young people to be change agents in their communities and in the larger world. This book translates ideas from theorists in critical literacy, student motivation, and culturally responsive pedagogy into practical approaches for the English language arts and social studies classroom (6–12). Each chapter poses questions designed to get teachers thinking about how to use mind-opening texts with students to address social problems.

Book Features:

Shows teachers how to use literature to help students navigate a shifting world.

Equips students with the skills to advocate for themselves and others, including using digital tools in meaningful, effective ways.

Asks students to face controversial points-of-view head on and interrogate the world in which they live.

Includes examples of discussions that lead to projects and opportunities that allow youth to do work in the community.

Demonstrates how to move theory into practice, providing teachers with the rationale for using inquiry as disruption if questioned by stakeholders.

Contains a scope and sequence that outlines an entire year devoted to inquiry, as well as how to break it down into individual units and lessons

Then amazon suggest this book.

Grading for equality.

Here at last―and none too soon―is a resource that delivers the research base, tools, and courage to tackle one of the most challenging and emotionally charged conversations in today’s schools: our inconsistent grading practices and the ways they can inadvertently perpetuate the achievement and opportunity gaps among our students.

With Grading for Equity, Joe Feldman cuts to the core of the conversation, revealing how grading practices that are accurate, bias-resistant, and motivational will improve learning, minimize grade inflation, reduce failure rates, and become a lever for creating stronger teacher-student relationships and more caring classrooms. Essential reading for schoolwide and individual book study or for student advocates, Grading for Equity provides

A critical historical backdrop, describing how our inherited system of grading was originally set up as a sorting mechanism to provide or deny opportunity, control students, and endorse a "fixed mindset" about students’ academic potential―practices that are still in place a century later

A summary of the research on motivation and equitable teaching and learning, establishing a rock-solid foundation and a "true north" orientation toward equitable grading practices

Specific grading practices that are more equitable, along with teacher examples, strategies to solve common hiccups and concerns, and evidence of effectiveness

Reflection tools for facilitating individual or group engagement and understanding

As Joe writes, "Grading practices are a mirror not just for students, but for us as their teachers." Each one of us should start by asking, "What do my grading practices say about who I am and what I believe?" Then, let’s make the choice to do things differently . . . with Grading for Equity as a dog-eared reference.

Any Democrats here want to comment on the book in reference in that NBC tweet?

Its how they propagandize you…

”LGBTQ Book”

Sorry, but I refuse to believe the entire LGBTQ community wants that trash read to minors in school.

Again, I’ll give y’all the benefit of the doubt re: political tribalism, because I truly hope you don’t believe minors should be learning about rimming, how to take c*mshots, gangbangs, eating poop and strap-ons.

No.  They won’t.

They just parrot the phrase “book banning” hoping to portray those that oppose books teaching kids how to be trans or dance on a pole as fascist.

They’re the worst human beings on earth.

There is no co existing with this.

DeSantis Notches Key Endorsements in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Florida

by Brittany Bernstein

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has secured a number of endorsements in New Hampshire and Iowa in recent days, as well as key endorsements in his home state of Florida as he is expected to soon join the 2024 presidential race. DeSantis made headlines over the weekend as he interacted one-on-one with voters in Iowa, shedding his reputation as a leader who struggles with retail politicking.

This Republican primary poll in Georgia has Trump up 40-32 on DeSantis.  Which of course is a disaster for Trump.

Worse for Trump is his favorability is 56%.

DeSantis - 75% Favorability.

DeSantis needs to keep doing what he’s doing and he’ll be the nominee.

DeSantis has had a good past few days.

Iowa, followed by the Georgia poll.

He’s not going to beat Trump in any national polls anytime soon .. but what he will do, is make it very interesting if he can start winning primary states.

He’s looking good in places like Iowa and NH… and in GA, if he’s close now, he’ll pull ahead when Kemp endorses him.

Please explain what the "correct" answer is in your opinion, because I think it is good that schools have it.

The correct answer is that all students should be well informed of the horrors of the holocaust so it never happens again.  I remember watching footage of bodies being bulldozed, piles of stolen jewelry and emaciated concentration camp victims in parochial grammar school and I believe it was the right thing.

Don’t really care for Mr. Depp - but what would really be helpful is people like him who perhaps maybe due to circumstances they didn’t quite understand but now do because they’ve seen leftist lunacy and hypocrisy - they need to call it out.

Only then Mr. Depp, can these “strange funny times” finally start to erode into the ash heap of history.  Votes aren’t going to do it.  Governments can’t do it - they make it worse.

I think Howard Stern has realized this and badly wants an off ramp:
