Bailout--Stimulus Thread

Nearly 3 million Americans filed jobless claims last week; eight-week total at 36.5 million

Many of these workers lost their jobs because of closures and a huge drop in spending and travel during the pandemic. The White House and some governors are struggling to reopen parts of the economy.

It is true, I am an idiot. It is also true that you are a parasite, and support all other parasites. You are also a traitor to your fellow citizens.

Holding what up? The stimulus that passed? Sure, we are a republic, they argue, what's wrong with that?

Here, the GOP is saying screw local government. Do you know how bad a recession is, all the death, suicide, misery, etc.??

I'll give a little prediction based on my experience in these matters.  If the Republicans want to screw state governments, guess who the Democrats controlling state governments are going to screw?  Small towns and villages.  Cuomo threatened it here a year or so ago.  All of those d-bag Trumpers in small town local government who whine about Cuomo this and big spending that got a taste of the hammer when Cuomo threatened to significantly reduce aid to towns (but not to cities, which are controlled by Democrats).  And guess who got all whiny?  Those Trumper types who love to complain about all things state and spending until the checks aren't coming in.

So, here's the breaking news.  If the feds don't help their partners in state government who paid the bill for the COVID fight (like, obviously, in New York), then state governments are going to pass the cuts along to localities.  And guess who is going to take a big hit?  You got it.  All of the Republicans on the patronage train in those governments.

Democrats $3 trillion wish list shows irresponsibility during national crisis

Washington Examiner, by Staff

Original Article

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced another $3 trillion of spending as the Democrats’ latest response to the coronavirus pandemic.

At over 1,800 pages, the mammoth legislation is a cynical left-wing wish not rooted in reality. It demonstrates that the Democrats are irresponsible and unfitted to govern at a time of crisis.

Some $2.9 trillion of spending already out the door means that by next year the federal debt is likely to be higher than the record set in World War II — a milestone that wasn’t supposed to be reached until over a decade from now. Now, Pelosi wants to pile on another $3 trillion on top of that record profligacy.

Maybe if the President wishes hard enough the Democratic bill will go away. By April.  Just like the pandemic.

In case you haven't noticed, political power is returning to the local and county level. It is best we handle our business at the county level as state governments regardless of party have become parasitic and wasteful to the extreme. Your would be lefty paradise is crumbling before your eyes. Since you are a lawyer, I am sure you will make out just fine.

What on Earth does “ hate crime” ( an invention of the left) or environmental “ justice” whatever the heck that is, have to do with Covid 19 relief for people who have been forced from their jobs by the government imposed shutdown ?

You're wasting your time.

It does not matter what is in Pelosi's bill....................so don't argue examples.

If you would note his last 10 or so responses, the DNC narrative is  "if you don't whole heartedly support the Democrat 3 trillion bill,

that shows that you don't believe in ANY relief, and you want the people to die........

It is either / or in lemming world.

Aren't you missing the point that the GOP isn't proposing anything? They are just making up lies about why nothing should happen.

This after arguing suicides would be in every house is we had an economic down turn. What happened to that argument?

Oh, suicides will go up and up. No doubt about that. Republicans want to get the country reopened, as the data gleaned from a couple months of lockdowns would indicate. They’re not going to be strong armed by the Dems, with their taxpayer funded bailouts of poorly run states that were already bleeding money, or relief only given with liberal BS attached to it. If the DEMS can propose a realistic bill that actually helps people without garbage attached they will listen.

Nancy Pelosi’s Latest ‘Relief Bill’ Is an Absolute Dumpster Fire

Never let a crisis go to waste I suppose. Nancy Pelosi is taking that moniker to heart with her latest “relief” proposal in the House. She’s presented a bill that’s so chocked full of pork that it’d make Memphis jealous.

If you are a liberal, there’s a little bit of everything in the bill.

Giveaways to abortion providers? It’s in there.

Bailouts for blue states to cover shortfalls prior to the virus? Affirmative on that.

Money for illegal immigrants and “healthcare inequity?” Yep on that front as well.

{snip}

There’s even a bailout for the Post Office, which was already heading toward collapse before the pandemic.

What’s not in the bill is much that would actually help average Americans.

For example, Democrats seek to extend unemployment through January, but all that would do is ensure an economic collapse, as it would turn the labor market upside down. Further, Pelosi is pushing to bring back the SALT tax deduction, which only benefits rich people in blue states.

Republicans should scoff at this and they already are.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already signaled he’s not bringing up this garbage legislation if it makes it to the Senate. That’s the right move. There’s very little for Republicans to gain by going along with Pelosi and much more to lose, not to mention it wouldn’t be good for the country in general.

Pelosi Palooza: House $3 Trillion Relief Bill Loaded With Democrat Political Goodies

Reagan McCarthy writes at Townhall:

Speaker Pelosi Proposes Another Partisan Relief Package

Speaker Pelosi unveiled Democrats’ proposed COVID-19 relief package on Tuesday, even as she refuses to allow the House to return to D.C. This version totals to an additional $3 trillion of relief.

The 1,815-page piece of legislation is, once again, filled with ideological wishes that are unrelated to coronavirus relief. Speaker Pelosi also allowed no GOP input in the crafting of this package that is virtually dead-on-arrival. Included in Speaker Pelosi’s bill are voting reforms, a repeal of the SALT cap, diversity incentives for marijuana businesses and other unrelated wish-list items.

You wouldn’t believe some of the items in this bill:

National Endowment for the Arts- $10 million for the National Endowment for the Arts for grants to support the general operations of recipients and language to permit the waiver of matching requirements.

National Endowment for the Humanities- $10 million for the National Endowment for the Humanities for grants to support the general operations of recipients and language to permit the waiver of matching requirements.

Sec. XX3. Temporary Protections for Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers. This section provides temporary protections to undocumented workers in the United States engaged in essential critical infrastructure work, as defined by DHS-issued guidance, during the COVID-19 emergency. Such workers are deemed to be in a period of deferred action and to be authorized for employment, and employers are shielded from certain immigration-related violations for employing such workers.

Section XX5. ICE Detention. This section requires DHS to review the immigration files of all individuals in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to assess the need for continued detention. Individuals who are not subject to mandatory detention shall be prioritized for release, either on recognizance or into an alternative to detention program, unless the individual is a threat to public safety or national security.

That barely scratches the surface.

Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network program – Provides $20 million to strengthen activities and services that connect farmers and ranchers to stress assistance resources and programs.

How horrible! lol
