Here is the bad part about the nursing homes... there is no good or easy answer.

My father is in a nursing home in NYS. No one has seen him since March. We cannot begin to imagine the shape he will be in when we get back there (not all people are candidates for facetime, Skype, or even a telephone call).  Not allowing any family members (not even one family member with PPE) was bad. It did not prevent COVID-19 from entering the nursing homes, staff brought it in. Cuomo sending the positive COVID-19 patients back to their home (remember, that nursing home is those people's home) made things worse. When he decided they would not release patients from the hospital back to the nursing homes until they had clear COVID-19 tests, that helped that problem (spreading in the nursing homes by residents, not staff), but it started another set of issues (long-term hospital stays are not always a good thing).

I was at the ophthalmologist yesterday. He confirmed what my mother had told me... these elderly patients could not be seen by their doctors during the lock-down. He told me, "All my cancellations were from nursing homes." My mother had said that they were not allowed to go out to their cardiologists, oncologists, etc.  These residents are heavily over 70 years old.  There is a staff doctor, but no specialists (unless they made a house call... hahahahahaha). Think about that.

No visitors, no specialists, all to "protect" the nursing home residents.

While I admit there was no good solution to this horrible problem, I also expect more deaths in the near-term... from lack of doctor care at the least.

China ***** sucks. They have a lot to answer for.

#RESIST: NY State Lawmaker Pledges To ‘Cut Off The Chains’ And Open Playgrounds If Mayor De Blasio Doesn’t Drop Ban.

State Sen. Simcha Felder slammed the Democratic mayor on Monday, accusing him of “catering” to donors and supporters by allowing playgrounds to remain open in some city districts, while chaining and welding gates shut in others.

“It’s a tale of two cities,” Felder, also a Democrat, told The Daily Wire. “Wealthier neighborhoods like Central Park and the east side of Manhattan, there’s certain playgrounds in certain neighborhoods, somehow the playgrounds and parks are open.”

“In other neighborhoods they’re closed,” Felder continued. “[De Blasio] is doing whatever he likes. He is catering to the people that support him most.”

Given de Blasio’s record, you have to wonder if there’s a Jewish component to which playgrounds are still ordered closed.

You still watching him?

We went over to my son's house for dinner this past weekend. I did not realize how much Cuomo was loathed by the 30-something-crowd. Who voted for this guy? And, who will run against him in two years?

Cuomo to sign executive order making Juneteenth a holiday for state employees

By Brooke Singman | Fox News

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will sign an executive order Wednesday to make Juneteenth a holiday for New York State employees and will propose legislation to commemorate the day as an official state holiday next year.

During his daily press conference, Cuomo recognized that Friday, June 19 is Juneteenth, the day “commemorating the emancipation of slavery in the United States.”

“It is a day that we should all reflect upon,” Cuomo said. “It is a day that is especially relevant in this moment in history.”

Cuomo announced that he would sign an executive order “today, recognizing Juneteenth as a holiday for state employees.”

“I will be proposing legislation next year to make it an official state holiday,” Cuomo added.

Cuomo’s announcement comes after Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced that he plans to also make Juneteenth an official holiday in his state, which was once the capital of the Confederacy.

...so why are you surprised?....there is no political capital in ethnic racism despite its world wide existence for thousands of years......think about an old marketing ploy...."the FIRST impression is the LASTING impression".......so visualize a Hasidic Jew versus a black person?...what's your first visual?......which sells FIRST as far as racism as far as political capital and cause?....

June 19th has been a state holiday in Texas since 1980.

Nice to see the enlightened North join the party. Better late than never I guess.
