Where are you getting 27k deaths

Below NYS site, as of 4/20, shows 14k fatalities - 90% of which have co-morbidity causes of death

I’m including the immediately surrounding area of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, etc.  Remember, I said REGIONAL issue. The virus doesn’t recognize arbitrary state lines on a map.

Nope.

I just find it hilarious that people expect socialist bailouts when they're investment in capitalist enterprises go sour.

People don't expect the government to bail them out if they make bad investments. They expect the government to help them when the government takes their job away from them or forces them to close their businesses.

Your lack of fundamental cognitive processing is almost stunning for a living, breathing, adult....

Shh. It's fine. It's fine. Don't worry, think about your safety, not what we're doing with this data...

Politicians love using this data, even Trump.

Data mining is a boom industry for politicians.

Using a political data mining company for health data is something new, pernicious, and should be deeply troubling to anyone with a working frontal lobe.

Hot mic — the “hoax” part isn’t interesting (John is talking about the LA county study posted yesterday) despite the hype it’s likely to get, it’s the comment that everyone in the White House press core having already been vaccinated.

Grain of salt.

He did raise that question in the briefer, in regards to one of the antibody studies.  And I'm glad that he did, I was wondering why that question hadn't been posed yet.  Seems awfully pertinent but truth be told, I'm not all that surprised either.  Today Scott Gottlieb said “We’re probably diagnosing 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 infections, and that’s what some of the reliable analyses are now showing,”

Even if it's just 1 in 10, then that means we are still talking about a .5% mortality rate.  1 in 20 would indicate .25%.

I hope that we begin to see more questions regarding these studies.  I know that Dr. Fauci is somewhat dismissive of some of the antibody tests, I'd like to hear their thoughts on the impending ones that I'm sure we will be hearing a lot more about in the coming weeks.

Barr Says DOJ May Act Against Governors With Strict Virus Limits

The Justice Department will consider taking legal action against governors who continue to impose stringent rules for dealing with the coronavirus that infringe on constitutional rights once the crisis subsides in their states, Attorney General William Barr said.

</snip>

“We have to give businesses more freedom to operate in a way that’s reasonably safe,” Barr said. “To the extent that governors don’t and impinge on either civil rights or on the national commerce -- our common market that we have here -- then we’ll have to address that.”

I have been one of the people who has tilted on the side of opening up shop provided it was done in an intelligent manner.

And I gotta say, on the surface Kemp does not seem to be doing it in the most prudent of ways.  He's not even following the Federal guidelines.

If his experiment, which I would say is a fair characterization of it does not work, he jeopardizes many other states opening up as well.   Not to mention that if Kemp's reopening of the economy in this fashion fails, it will be placed straight on the feet of Trump.

I hope the Trump CoronaVirus taskforce is very involved and invested in their success.  I certainly hope that my concerns are overblown.

USA TODAY COLUMN: Protests show ‘two Americas’ — those who lost their jobs and those still getting paid.

“People don’t appreciate being condescended to and bossed around, especially when the leaders ask them for sacrifices without empathy and humility.”

Plus: “Ultimately, this rising resentment is itself a failure of public health, and of public health administration. You can complain that people are irrational and resentful, that they don’t ‘believe in science,’ or whatever. But people are what they are, and their response to epidemics is surprisingly predictable. If your messaging — and your behavior — inspires resentment that causes people to resist and ignore public health messages, then you have failed at your job, whatever the amount of scientific knowledge you bring to bear.”

I’ll just add that one thing that has appalled me — in the comments here, on social media, and well, everywhere — is that so many people dealing with a situation full of uncertainty and unreliable data are so dead-certain of their positions and so abusive of people who disagree. And that’s certainly true of both sides in this debate.
