Question for the CDC:

"What intel on the virus were you given from China and the WHO from Dec 2019 thru January 2020?"

And second question...

"Why didn't Governors heed your warnings and shut these down?":

CDC warns George Floyd protests may be 'seeding event' for more coronavirus outbreaks

So follow up question for the media.  In light of these warnings, why were you good with 10s of thousands of protesters in cities all across the country through June?

Suddenly, Public Health Officials Say Social Justice Matters More Than Social Distance

For months, health experts told Americans to stay home. Now, many are encouraging the public to join mass protests.

Also, were these always crisis actors?

Yea sorry.  The CDC is right there with NBC in trustworthiness.  Start telling the truth not "your truths" then we can start taking you seriously again...

CDC is bad, too huh? Along with all media, many Republicans, all Democrats, the FBI, the CIA, all the other intelligence agencies, social media companies, most every doctor, the judicial branch of government, local election officials, our democratic allies, NOAA  and anyone one else that ever dared to challenge any of Trump's many lies. Cult's think exactly like that

It's kind of funny, some organization challenges Trump, he just blithely states that they hate him personally and can't be trusted, and his supporters just swallow that warm and whole. lol

I think Trump has been lying to.

I think Trump's lies about Covid occur somewhere between when he says "we saved 2 million lives" to "live your life don't let it scare you."  It can't be both.

And, that we need 15 now 30 days to do....something that didn't work and no one is demanding answers.  No questions asked.

His actions were correct but what to say publicly he was in a no win situation.  Now his opponents; not virology experts or scientists----political opponents which should also tell you why something very nefarious happened here.  Call it conspiracy I don't really care.  But his opponents say he should have took it more seriously.  In February when we had no deaths.  Or January when they love to say see he knew it was bad look what he told Woodward!  Who himself found the news so terrifying he told no one.  Must be some horrific virus huh?

If he closed down everything in February before we had 1 death it wasn't going to matter.  You know why?  Because it was everywhere and we couldn't stop anything.  Never.  For some reason, his political opponents; again not virologists or scientists think he should have shut it all down way earlier then he did.  Maybe before his impeachment vote?

It was either going to do what it did slowly bc we hid for 3 months or eventually do what its doing now saturate the entire heartland and rebound bc people have weighed the risks and decided that they can't live like this anymore life has to go on.

The mask distraction has always been b.s. Trump knew it I think they didn't anticipate so many people would be clamoring for them----not scientists or doctors (they got on board in May)---but his political opponents.  It's absolute a freedom issue bc if you can mandate and get compliance for that you can get it for ANYTHING.

They don't work.  As the planet opened back up bc people by and large understand data and refuse to live like this indefinitely with zero justification and constantly moving goal posts.

And that is where EVERYONE either lied or f...ed up.

The minute 15 days was up it should have been full open let's see where it is.  We were lied to.  Twice.  Then 30 days.  OK and now it's becoming political.  Ok and now hospitals are empty.  Ok and now no one under 85 is dying at anywhere near an alarming rate and for that matter neither is anyone over 85.  Looking back at the numbers now from March thru October did it look really really bad?  Were we justified in living like that?

How ANYONE can believe ANYTHING they see from ANY politician on the left or right after this either doesn't care or they are just complete and total sheep.

It's one of the great mysteries of the pandemic.  To be completely honest, I wonder if the reason there was very little pushback on those sorts of mass gatherings, why Dr. Faucci was not railing against these massive super-spreader events was to encourage transmission of the virus.

Probably because the administration did not let him go on shows like Meet The Press, Face The Nation etc.

I suggest you quit thinking in either/or ways.  Trump’s rallies caused outbreaks where he had rallies - Tulsa or the White House for examples.  California is likely due to Covid fatigue and improper in home meetings without masks.  Your desire to defend Trump to the death blinds you to reality.

What??  I didn’t defend Trump! I didn’t bring him into it at all. Sheeesh

One of the many shortcomings, and potential for shenanigans, of the response was the federal government's lack of requiring labs to have one consistent PCR testing cycle range and showing the quantitative result of the test to establish the patient's viral load at the time the specimen is retrieved.  Everyone is walking around not knowing what a negative or positive test truly means in terms of viral load, and I think that means a lot.

A positive and negative can be separated by a single cycle but you can remain quite infectious.  On the flip, you may be asymptomatic and think you've got a weak strain of it but your viral load, in reality, may be completely off the charts.  I think if people knew conclusively how infectious they were, they'd be more careful not to spread it around.

Many other viral tests for EBV, HIV, etc. all test for viral load but when it came to COV-2, nope, it just had to be positive or negative.   When you had mono as a kid, the reason you stayed home from school for a week is that your viral load would generally decrease to a non-infectious level over that course of time.  You could conclusively know that via test.  With HIV, viral load IS the gold standard, it's an absolute need to know metric.

My MIL is a huge Trump supporter, but also an anti-vaxxer. As the Trump administration is pushing the vaccine and Pence is televising his own vaccination, watching her struggle is kinda funny.

The Pence Vaccination Holiday Special is pretty weird to me. Sorry if this has been talked about too much already, but I figured people would be commenting on it in this thread.

Does anyone else find it odd? Weird in an off-putting way?

Up to the locality yes.

If you're under 40 why wouldn't you minimize it.

If you have a BMI less than 20 (we need to mandate bans on French fries) you have nothing to worry about.

Here is why Einstein,

My parents live in a Senior Living Campus in WNY. The campus has been fortunate to keep the virus out until just recently. MANY of the residents have helping staff come in to help the residents - they are not employees of the center - but they are a vital cog of the ecosystem of these facilities.  My mother has dementia and needs help at almost everything - but she is not ready for memory care. My Dad cannot handle the dawn to dusk load of this and help comes in. Help is typically younger moms picking up some part time work.  The facility has been testing these incoming helpers on a weekly basis - but that doesn't guarantee anything. Recently an outbreak occurred in one of the wings...20 affected 3 dead.

So post your graphs and make fun of medical care workers blowing off some steam....You clearly have the luxury of not having to think about the effects of this virus on your life - but know that your observations on what should be happening in our country are based on YOUR position.

My own kids falling behind in school.... their depression, anxiety, fear, and overall impact on their development that they can't get back while the privileged elite telework sure but otherwise this has no impact on my life correct.

I have to work and teach 2nd and 6th grade this year.  It's going great!

My 8th and 9th graders look like they want to slit their wrists every day but it's awesome!  We're all in this together!

It's been a pleasure the last 4 months watching my said 2nd grader barely write because you know everything is computers bc the AI or just going to take over anyway.

I take that back....occasionally she writes on a small white board and holds up answers the teachers don't really see or correct.

Asynchronous "learning!"  Why do we even need teachers and Schools anymore???  This is just as good!

So what you are saying is the answer to this is to let everyone get it, and while we are at it ....let's make fun of health care workers while we are at.

The complete AVOWED abdication and utter myopic incompetence of the Trump administration  has put both you, my parents and this country in places they should not be.

But hey....Nothing like owning the libs with a sick burn like "At least they are 6 feet away"

1. My father is one of those health care workers in Buffalo.  He has repeatedly told me as if I don't know, its a serious virus, I've seen it, I know colleagues that got it........but we're not near capacity or any breaking point......we did what we were told.... what we're essentially doing is giving in to fear at this point.  In March I was very worried.  Not anymore.

I wasn't "making fun" of them.  The point of that is to say if this was so devastating, we don't have time for this narcissistic nonsense that is not to relieve stress they're saying hey look at me despite this pandemic we have everyone thinking is overrunning our hospitals.  It isn't.  And fyi, they all should be Time's "Person of the Year."  They gave it to a career politician that did literally NOTHING and backed into becoming president.  Yes, I should take this all seriously.

2. Trump isn't to blame for the mitigation destroying 50 million kids.  When weighing the science and assessing risk....they need to be in school fully open.  Any teacher that doesn't want to work should be fired.  Lose year of pay (or more depending how long they want to do this) or demonstrate clear documented health risks and get a year off.  Why are ANY government employees still getting paid as they close down businesses and re arrange tax payer funded education to favor the elites, Google, Microsoft and the privileged without consent from the public?   But sure, I should be taking this seriously.

I am.  Just not in ways the cower in your basement forever because I most definitely have a government job no spouse and/or kids in school crowd can even or is willing to comprehend.

Kids aren't playing school sports?  Why?  Kids aren't at least at half capacity.  Why?   Where is the science that says they shouldn't be doing these things?  It should be up to them and their parents and if the concern is death, the math says they should continue to avoid grandma because the average age of death remains over 74 years old.  Their protection does not require shutting down society.

Tibs.....you posted a statistic without commentary. I assume it was meant as some sort of statement.  My question is a simple one....if you were in charge right now, what exactly would you do in light of that statistic?

I'd start by telling the truth, which Trump has not. How many died because of his lies? Any guesses?
