I remember when UB moved into Division I and hearing at the time that it would take about 20 years to become relevant. It really is something for the local team.

Men's and Women's basketball all made the polls too in the last few years. As an athletic program, Buffalo has come a long way.

Sorry for the subscription Athletic story but here's a fascinating interview with UB's first FBS coach describing the cluster**** UB's joining the MAC was, and how poorly it was thought through. He reflects on where the program is now and a what a miracle it is.

Was at their first win(could be first home win but iirc their first win came at home) after they jumped up to the MAC along with 14 other people. Most of the people that stayed ended up in our section where the tunnel is. Was a great time. Cirbus gave me a high five so hard my hand hurt for a few days.

I wonder how JP would do in the NFL. He's not that big and NFL defenders aren't college defenders. But he's so shifty and has amazing balance.

Not much smaller than Etienne and they consider him top notch

Except Etienne is going to run in high 4.3's. Don't get me wrong I love Patterson. If he runs mid 4.5's or better I think he comes out.

Are you kidding me!! Promo, this dude is nice!! His draft stock is rising every week

Keep feeding him Lance

Barry Sanders is tweeting about Jaret

I literally came here thinking to myself that UBs running backs might be better than the Bills.

PTR, in UB's first 38 Div I games they were 6-32, with Larry Felser writing that it was a mistake to move up and that they should go back down for their own good.

...in the last 38 games they are 28-10, with three straight bowl appearances and two straight bowl victories and throw in about a 10 year run of UB alum playing in the NFL.

These are the salad days, my brother.  Please pass the dressing.

Go UB!

That's true with basketball too. UB has come a long way. What's really nice is seeing alums buying in and becoming fans. I went to UB (76-78) and there was absolutely no school spirit at all!

FYI: Coastal Carolina and Nebraska are on our 2021 schedule!

Leipold has been the best HC in the history of the school. He is more than a good coach. He is a builder of a sustaining program. If Leipold was a little younger he already would have been snatched by a flagging big football school and showered with a contract that Buffalo couldn't close to matching. Don't be surprised if the Illinois interest was a harbinger of future offers. A school like Nebraska would be wise to consider a coach like Leipold. Leipold is not a flashy person. He's the embodiment of substance over style.
