Look it up!

Thanks after the initial summary by google:

The Supreme Court has rejected Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal, upholding her 20-year sex trafficking conviction. The denial means Maxwell's conviction and sentence will stand, and her only remaining potential avenue for release is a presidential pardon or commutation. Lawyers for Maxwell stated they were "deeply disappointed" but would continue to seek other legal options.

I saw a few articles, including this unfavorable one by CNN. Didn’t see much on Trump giving her a break though, especially not on a preferential treatment situation.

What changed is that the MAGA base wants the files released after their candidates campaigned on it for years. The Dems saw vulnerability in Trump obstructing the release and pushed for the vote. Every day the news is about Trump and Epstein is a good day for the Dems. That’s politics. It’s been over 20 years since a lot of the crimes occurred.  A lot of the names in those files are probably retired or dead, or out of the public eye by now so their power has waned and the politicians voting now may not care about them much. No one wants to be accused of standing on the side of the pedos.

Whatever is released, no one will be happy. No one believes anything anymore except that there is unity of opinion that the files should be opened to the public. People believe what they want to and absorb through their preferred media. Unless explicit details about Trump are in there, Dems will think Trump had his name removed from the files. Trump team has been through it all so they know what will be released, or not. MAGA will ignore whatever Trump stuff there is and focus on the Dem names in there. People who were just associates, but not guilty of any crimes will also be in there and their names will be out. It will be a mess. Reporters will have a field day sifting through it all and books will be written. I doubt anything implicating Trump will be released, but we may see who some real wealthy scumbags are.

And that's better than nothing.  I'm sure the girls who were raped and trafficked agree.

I just hope when the details are released it will show who the true discussing pedos are no mater what their political affiliations are or what social standings they have. I worry though that it will just show a bunch of people who Epstein socialized with, and that doesn’t give us a lot above what was already known… we need his client list, not just people that he shook hands with

Collins: "Were Stacey Plaskett's texts with Epstein appropriate?"

Jeffries: "She is not of violating any House rule."

Collins: "Do you think it was appropriate?"

Jeffries: "I have not had a conversation with Stacey Plaskett... That's the end of the story."

It should be investigated and it will be. We've waited for years for the Epstein files to be released and will likely wait longer due to the dept of justice running interference.  It's reasonable to wait a little longer to judge Plaskett's role and the legal implications.  If she's guilty of something, throw her to the wolves just like all the rapists involved with Epstein.

The list is gonna be heavily redacted. You don’t get the votes like that without promises that it will be scrubbed. I just feel awful for the victims, tossed around like a football

The victims have been on camera and in front of a microphone on many occasions. They should speak up rather than hope a bunch of Washington politicians do it for them.

Did you just blame the victims here?

I think his point is that the victims can't rely on politicians to advocate on their behalf, as evidenced by the years of delay in publishing anything.

I don't think "client" is the right word here. He was a money manager, and from what we can see he was good at that. I think the trafficking and assaults probably overlapped much more with his social cirle than his actual clients. Did he or Maxwell have a diary of all the terrible things that these monsters did?  The answer to that is probably not, because of the danger it posed to Epstein himself.

Sadly, in reality people are looking for a magic bullet that in all likelihood doesn't exist.

And you think they haven't been advocating for themselves? Nice try tho.

that point would be misled.  there's been numerous documentaries on the subject where victims were interviewed.  There's been countless press events where the victims have spoken out about the release, and didn't they address congress a few days ago before the final vote?  they've more than advocated on their behalf, and now they need the government to take the next step and do what's right.  To imply they haven't done enough or need to take this on completely by themselves doesn't seem right to me.

they have spoken up. People don’t believe them. I wish we could live in a world where we just simply believed the victims

Not surprised someone of your experience would read it that way. Hardly. If feckless Washington politicians won’t do what needs to be done, they are left to stand for themselves. I imagine there would be widespread support for those that would do so.

Have they named names? I personally don’t trust a politician on either side of the aisle to do what’s right. The victims may need to do more than what we can get from our elected “leaders”.

Is t that what politicians are exactly supposed to do?

Yesterday, after years of silence, Jake Tapper was tweeting in support of the victims. I imagine he would welcome a group of them on his show and they could detail the who, when, and what for all to see. Then again, maybe he wouldn’t welcome that on his show.

The alternative is to put faith in sh*tbag Washington politicians. The wheels of justice have turned rather slowly taking that approach. Doesn’t seem right.

The court of public opinion is clearly on the side of the victims here. If it comes to the point they need to take further steps, God bless them.
