Every single time there was a character that was Muslim and/or Arab, you knew they were there as a red herring. I'm not about to go on a "PC culture" rant, but the fact is, it just wasn't a surprise anymore. I first discovered it when I went on a roadtrip with my parents for a funeral during my senior year of high school. I had a portable DVD player, and we stopped at Target. Season one was on sale, so I bought it just because I'd heard good things. My parents didn't hear a peep out of me the rest of the trip. After that, the show helped me stay in shape during the summer. I had a Blockbuster account, where I paid $12 a month for unlimited rentals, of one disk at a time. So I'd rent one DVD, watch it for three hours. Then I'd get on my bike and ride two miles each way. Did this about two or three times a day. I was reading the original concept for the show was a comedy-drama about the 24 hours leading up to a wedding. One change led to another, and basically the only thing to stay was the real time format. They're talking about doing a different series now. From what I understand he had some major issues getting along with some of the upper management in the series.
