I don't think that's backwards at all. I think you're absolutely right. But the original point remains; if you remove Bill from HIllary, she doesn't have the political resume she currently carries. There would be no Senator Hillary, or Sec of State Hillary or Presidential Candidate Hillary.

Glad to see you don't think Michelle was a fascist for wanting kids school lunches to be healthier.

I don't disagree with your point about Hillary, but I would make the point that her political career is like many in politics.  Who you know is pretty relevant... and to be fair, it doesn't automatically make somebody more or less capable for a job.

@plenzmd1 Pretty much this right here. The primary leaders of the GOP have never punched back like Trump. They just the left tell lies and misrepresent stories on the path to the high road. That thread I posted is pretty specific to what I'm talking about and, I'll be honest, it's kind of odd you equate that to a pity party.

It's a relative comment. I believe most people who aren't dead dog Dems don't find Warren, Hillary or Harris very likable or believable. Their histories are filled with disingenuous words and actions. Hillary = Corrupt. Warren = Fake. Harris = Corrupt AND Fake. Michelle has virtually always come across as above everything. Protective of her husband, yes, but she, personally, doesn't carry much baggage to the average voter other than being Barack's wife, and if you listen and watch her, you realize she's not Barack's wife. He's Michelle's husband. Assuming that makes sense.

What i mean by pity party is people excusing  racist tweets, or when he lies, or any other action that most people find offensive with the.."well the Dems have been mean to us in the past, woe is me, therefore everything he does is a okay casue i agree with his policies". I don't agree with that...i think it is rationalizing bad behavior. I just dont understand why you can't be a Trump supporter, and an avid one at that, and not criticize some of his actions . I know you have in this very thread, but most do not. And i dont mean "thet will hurt Trump..or he stepped in it today, or thats Trump being Trump " I mean " this is just flat out wrong and he was wrong to do it/say it"

No, I do not link everyone who disagrees with President Trump all together. I do not agree with everything he says or does. I label people who knee-jerk react to something he does, simply because Trump does it, as #OrangeManBad people.

When those three tweets came out, I thought nothing of them... I read them, processed what was actually said, and watched the screaming begin. Over the course of the next four days it was pretty clear for all to see how politically brilliant those three tweets were. Democrats have (begrudgingly) admitted it was a political masterpiece in just a few words.

Yes, there was pearl-clutching among "conservatives" simply because "that's not who we are" and because President Trump said (wrote) it. There was nothing racist or vile about those tweets. Nothing. Yet people went running around screaming with their hair on fire because they were from President Trump.

And that is why people get labeled #OrangeManBad or #NeverTrump-ers... because the reaction is negative to nearly everything he does, simply because he is the one doing it. It is truly remarkable.

we will disagree about the nature of the tweets, neither one of us will change each others mind. All i will say is I have not seen him tweet at Pelosi to go back to where she came from, i have not seen him tweet at Newsom to go back where he came from, or really any white politician who opposes him to go back where they came from.

Not quite sure then why he is backing away from the chants then, and why he disagreed with them if the chants were not racist?

What if i said Trump should go home  to the fatherland as he and his ideology took hold there before, maybe it will again.I  mean after all his dad was born in Germany right? Of course that's a ridiculous statement, as was his.

And in terms of a political masterpiece, maybe it was. But  if posting/promoting racial divides in this country are worth the win to the republicans, God bless. They sure are not to me.

Haven't seen a racist tweet or comment or action by Trump since he became President.  He's attacked people on their character or their positions on issues or their decisions. Much of it the targets readily deserve.  It's just that those who view his every word through the prsim of race see it that way, or they simply play the race card because they can't or choose not to address the underlying issue.  AOC is a naive fool with crazy policy positions who is pumped up by the media because she sells.  Some like to look at her, some like her attacks on Trump, some can't stand her and can't wait to hear what she says next and some are like minded.  She's got something for everyone, entertainment-wise.

The left and the media are using the same playbook on Trump that they used on the TEA Party.  The TEA Party was founded on some very sound fiscal principles and gained a lot of steam in a short time.  The left and the media had to destroy the brand it was creating for political survival.  Same thing with MAGA.  That was/is a very effective campaign message particularly on the heels of Obama's "fundemental transformation" and his dismal record.  The left and supportive media immediately pounced and branded it racist while the underlying concept was quite appealing.  Like any good movement, there are always some bad apples that find there way in.  Bad lefty apples are often ignored (Antifa, among others) while bad righty apples (actual racists) are used  to destroy entire groups.

When a discussion begins and ends with "racist", it ain't much of a discussion.

Lets clarify..this whole discussion the past five  days has been on race, were his tweets racist, and the way different people interpret the meaning and the impacts on both sides of the argument. To then say damn, you are talking racism,  I don not think is a fair criticism..it is what has been discussed for the last 500 posts!

I have not called Trump racist, i said his tweet was racist.  If i am to take you at face value that it was all done for political gain, both those things can be true.

More importantly, I have not  ever called anyone on this thread or any Trump supporter racist just because they are Pro Trump or whatever you want to call it. However, you have labeled me in this thread now 3 different ways

1) #orangmenbad

2) Liberal

3) #nevertrump

Lets argue the points, and have disagreements..but in a thread that has been discussing racism , yes i am going to talk about it.

If you have read the majority of my pots on this sub forum, I could not agree more with you. Same with Warren, same with Sanders, same with Harris, same with the "squad" ..attack like hell on their positions, point out how dumb their ideas are, challenge them to debates, make them shoe detailed plans...don't tell 4 brown opponents to go back where they came from.

I think you are a liberal in part (so am I). You definitely have something personal against President Trump. That is fine, but it leads to a real blind spot in assessing his policy, personality, and political moves. When you stop reacting to what he does, simply because he does it, then you will not longer be part of the #OrangeManBad-brigade. ?‍♀️

by personal if you mean I think he is not a person that should lead the US..absolutely. But you point out to me where I rail against a policy just because its a Trump policy? I think you will be searching a long time. What I will not do is not criticize bad, often awful behavior, strictly because i agree with much of his policies

If you criticize Trump here, you’re assumed to be a wild-eyed liberal.

Or you are assumed to be the exact same poster as everyone else who criticizes him - because of course no more than one person would ever actually criticize #orangemanbad

Go on.............

Is this very discussion not proof? Some really smart people here have said this whole tweet thing was politically motivated. If so, Trump views iy as advantage to the nation to be totally divided on its meaning/message.

an hour ago you lumped all "religious folks as the most hypocritical folks in the land"

sorry did not see this, and you are  correct that was an over generalization. What I meant there was i am continually astounded at the support Trump has from Evangelicals and those who preach family values, and yet endorse a guy who was displayed anything but family values.

And just to clear, i see nothing wrong with Trump banging a porn star or bedding as many women as he has( as long as none were sexual assault)..my only problem is he was married while doing it. And lord knows i am not saying politicians, or for that matter, anyone , outside of Trump do not stray..just that i am surprised the far right family values crowd continue to have his back.
