Because letting someone die naturally and feeding her a lethal injection and essentially murdering her are two completely different things, thats why. She's a human being, not a sick, stray cat. And contrary to what PETA and some "enlightened" folks say, there IS a difference between the two.

Honestly, I dont know where I stand on this issue, but Ill bet dollars to doughnuts that if it was YOUR kid or my kid sitting in that bed and we got anything more than a nose twitch when when whispered her name in her ear, we'd be fighting tooth and nail to keep her alive.

Either way, watching vultures like Tom Dobson swarm in with his "flock" sickens me. Its the families' business to work out. Nobody elses.

Precisely! Nobody said it was easy but when you have the Christian

right card and the politicians like that abomination from Texas Tom Delay taking their marching orders from a bunch of people who really couldn't care less about Terry, who's fast becoming a political pawn, then it becomes a circus. Watching this group on every news station last night was maddening because it made you just want to fly down there and smack them upside the head.

What's wrong with you people??? She's a vegtable! Her laughing is that of a madwoman! Her reactions to people aren't intentional, its the result of the body reacting to a stimulus! She can't express herself, she can't feed herself, and she didn't have a living will! Chances are, if she has any thought going on in her head (which is highly unlikely) its pure torture and hell! If this was caused by her eating disorder, then she did it to herself!

I just read on FNC that the Supreme Court refused to intervene.....with no comment. I guess the Supreme Court can suck sometimes, too.

280549[/snapback]

Do they "suck", or is just that the legal precedent is so overwhelming that it would be ridiculous for them to get involved? We are all just speculating here anyway, so who knows - maybe the father molested her as a child, leading to severe psychological problems like her eating disorder, and now he feels guilty and is trying to overcompensate. The reason the courts rule as they do, is because you can't pick your parents. You choose who you marry.

The blame for this circus atmosphere should land directly on the doorstep of her parents, who seem intent on letting every screwball pro-lifer run the show.

Some of these people I thankfully hadn't seen in years. Just now Randell Terry (Randell Terry!) just introduced Terri's mother so you know the cable news cameras will be fixated there for the next week or so. Combine that with the right wingers in congress desperately trying to intervene where they shouldn't and you have a tasteless display of grandstanding. The cable news channels just eat this garbage up so get ready for the Terri Schiavo death watch, brought to you by Ford trucks.

I wonder if her husband did something that caused her initial brain damage.

Is that why he's so insistent on having her dead - to cover up his culpability?

The hospice will be cutting their losses once she's dead - so they're not a neutral party in this either.

There is no evidence of a viable living will and that it is her wish to be left to die. It took her husband seven years after she was crippled to profess that she said that she'd never want to live like this. What took so long? If that were my wife, that would be the first thing I would have told her Doctors. I wouldn't have waited seven years and after I'd met another woman and had two children with her.

The thing about this case to me is that it's not a matter of simply "pulling the plug."

Mass murderers, crazed serial killers, and helpless animals are executed with more compassion than what is in store for this poor woman. For Christ's sake, the prisoners in Abu Grav receive more compassion from the "sensitive" liberal left like Sen. Barbara Boxer than does this poor woman. The early National Socialist Party Solution

Her cruel death through starvation will be absent any dignity - as that last remaining scrap of humanity will be stolen from her through this callow act, and it will be the saddest note of a terribly tragic life.

That she could survive only through the support and love of her own flesh and blood is a burden than most would not want to impose on our own family. That hers will be denied the ability to furnish that life-giving care - that they so eagerly and willingly would provide is a travesty of justice that mocks the familial love that is evident here.

Perhaps her husband should be prosecuted under the Americans with Disabilities Act

"This institutionalization led to the ultimate in abuse during the 1930s in Hitler's Germany. People with disabilities, most notably those with mental retardation and mental illness, became the Gestapo's first guinea pigs in medical experimentation and mass execution. Before the SS began mass extermination of Jews, Gays and Lesbians and other minorities and their supporters, people with disabilities were all put to death by Hitler's concentration camp staff."

Please take a moment and create a living will for yourself - for the sake of your family. The God-damned news networks don't deserve another salacious story like this to plop into their feeding troughs.

Yup, god forbid when there's a reasonable doubt about her condition we err on the side of life.

Convicted murderers on death row would most likely get more compassion and consideration than this woman is getting. How pathetic is that?

DAMN RIGHT I WOULD>>>My point is if you are going to kill her why not do it painlessly?

Hell she's going to be worse off then the bastard pedophile that killed the girl in FL.

It would be interesting to see FL now say an acceptable form of death for death penalty cases is starvation...How fast would the ACLU be in on that?

"The effects of such feeding tubes being removed can be seen by the third or fourth day, when the patient's mouth begins to look dry, and the eyes appear sunken. From Days 5 to 10, respiration becomes irregular with periods of very fast and then very slow breathing. By the final days, kidney function declines; toxins begin accumulating in the body; and multiple organ systems fail from lack of nutrition.

Court-appointed doctors have said that Schiavo, in her condition, would not feel any pain, but her parents' doctors dispute that"

It doesn't seem very painless does it? Still I would take a physiicians opinion anyday over such nutcases like Randell Terry and Tom DeLay.

Speaking of the "Exterminator" he's got to be in his glory right now, changing gears from his own assorted ethics violations to concentrate on feeding tubes must be a welcome relief for him.

So what exactly are you suggesting be done in this case?

The only point to any of your posts appears to be to work in as many 'neo-con', 'nazi Bush', 'Christian right', and 'evil Republican' sound bites as possible.

There you wacko righties go again, asking one of our resident "progressives" to actually expound on their soundbytes. Will you ever learn?

More proof positive concerning my theory on this board thus far : the self persecution of the Right seems to be veering into a land of make belief. A land where what may be considered a slight or insult is magnified into terms like "nazi", "evil", and "neo-con" (I don't know what that is but it sounds mean) that haven't been used.

Began to wonder if the rockin' righties here aren't suffering from a sort of mass delusion, then I realized they aren't much different from the current Conservative mindset which acts all wounded and insulted if you dare question their wisdom.

Hey guys I had figured this was a Conservative board so I didn't think government intervention into a personal family issue would be tolerated.

Then I realized it was a partisan board.

Actually, I think this Schiavo thing IS great. We should start starving terrorists and murderers. I don't want to have to foot the bill for their humane treatement.

Come to think of it, why don't we starve retards? And then when we're done with the retards, we can starve the liberals.

I kind of like the sound of this, who's with me?

This seems like a case where there are clearly two sides and both of them are wrong and potentially evil. The husband seems to want to allow her to die and that is wrong. The parents want to keep her live in a vegetative state which strikes me as torturing her.

Whose wrong? Probably both of them.

Bingo!

I believe most people with be fine with that.

Makes you wonder why he doesn't walk away.

That would be totally understandable.

That he wants her executed is not.

It's not like she can't breath on her own and a "plug" will get "pulled" and she'll die quickly as a result.

They're going to starve her to death which is cruel and inhumane.

Anybody that thinks otherwise should go on a total fast for fourteen days.

No fluids, no food.

Actually, doctors who've studied this report that starving someone in that state does not cause physical pain. Not good enough for those Birkenstock-wearers who claim that if you record a plant's stem being cut, you can hear it screaming, but what can you say?

I bet the next post says the husband is a terrorist. We've already had someone call him a Nazi, which is, of course, the argument of a sane person not overtaken by emotion </sarcasm>. In a better world more people would use their minds for rational thought.

I assure you, if prosecutors in a state governed by Jeb Bush had a shred of evidence that the husband was abusive, etc., he would have been symbolically arrested 10 years ago. Maybe the people in Florida should be keeping closer track of the child molesters who are killing their children (that's four now in the past year for guys that had long sex assault records) than to allow Teri to go to a better place according to her wishes.
