6-8: Sabres' AGM Steve Greeley with Howard and Jeremy on WGR (15:12)

#Sabres assistant general manager Steve Greeley joins Howard and Jeremy next on WGR to talk about some of the European signings the team has made this offseason! Tune in:

Greeley - We got to spend some nice time with Dahlin at the Combine. He's a good, humble kid. #Sabres

Greeley - He's a very good, young player. We're thrilled to be in the position we are in with the first pick. #Sabres

Greeley - the league hasn't gotten easier, but it has gotten younger. Speed is probably a bigger part of the game than it was 5-10 years ago. While it's a difficult adjustment for all young players, players with speed are tending to have a quicker impact in the game. #Sabres

Greeley - speed is a key ingredient in today's game and we've identified that. As much faster as the game has gotten, the grit of the game has not diminished. #Sabres

Greeley - Pilut was a player we were excited to get. He's young, has played in the SHL at a young age, and hope he can come in to Buffalo and grow into the organization. #Sabres

Greeley - He gets up into the play, moves the puck well, was always in the top-minutes played for defenseman in the SHL. He may be undersized, but his hockey IQ has helped him stand out. #Sabres

Greeley - We think Pilut has room to grow and be a good puck-moving defenseman in the NHL at some point. #Sabres

Greeley - Pilut was a kid that we had to get in on. We were on him even before his stats took off. His team won the championship in 2016-17, and we were seeing him then. #Sabres

Greeley - Pilut will compete for a spot in the NHL. He's got some adjusting to do, but he's like a good college senior coming out. #Sabres

Greeley - What we're excited to see is how his hockey IQ can adjust to the North American game. His brain is so good with the puck, I think he can adjust quickly. #Sabres

Greeley - Asplund is a very reliable two-way center. Can bring some offense, responsible in the defensive zone. We're really excited for him, he's been hungry to get here. He's got the passion and drive to be a Buffalo Sabre. #Sabres

Greeley - Asplund took a jump offensively this year. He got more comfortable offensively, took the next step offensively that allowed us to bring him over this offseason. #Sabres

Greeley - Olofsson's biggest attribute is the how he can score goals. His release is something you can't teach, he has an exceptional ability to shoot the puck. He's capable of playing both wings, and we expect him to come over and produce offensively. #Sabres

Bove: Another way too early Sabres roster projection

With a shakeup likely coming to the Sabres in some capacity, adding a young winger to play alongside Jack Eichel could pay dividends. While in Montreal, Galchenyuk has been moved all over the place. At just 24-years-old, Galchenyuk has underperformed for a former third-overall pick but he's still a talented player. In addition to Galchenyuk, the Sabres add two players with upside in Nikita Scherbak & Victor Mete.

Alex Galchenyuk - Jack Eichel - Sam Reinhart
C.J. Smith/Victor Olofsson - Paul Statsny  - Kyle Okposo
Evan Rodrigues  - Casey Mittelstadt - Alex Nylander
Scott Wilson - Zemgus Girgensons - Jason Pominville

Jake McCabe - Rasmus Ristolainen
Marco Scandella - Rasmus Dahlin
Brendan Guhle - Zach Bogosian

Extras: Casey Nelson & Lawrence Pilut

Jonathan Bernier
Linus Ullmark

Crazy that Toronto has better odds than the Penguins (2 Cups in the last 3 years) and Washington. And even Nashville.

Especially with Toronto losing JVR (who had 36 goals for them this year) and Bozak. That's about 100pts leaving their lineup.

They have a lot of cap space, so they very well could replace both those players in free agency. But still, until you see what they do in FA it's hard to say that they will definitely be a better team than last year.

Plenty of time to make adjustments after the draft and UFA.

Does Zach Bogosian Have a Future with the Sabres?

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - With Zach Bogosian coming off another injury and another surgery, let’s take a look at him moving forward.

Bogosian is worthy of his nomination for the NHL’s King Clancy award as he very much cares about kids and his community. He is not just an athlete that does things for show, he and his wife Bianca want to try to make a difference.

The Atlanta Thrashers made Bogosian the third overall pick of the 2008 Entry Draft behind Drew Doughty of the Kings and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos.

Ovi will still be liquored up at Christmas from winning the Cup..they got no chance of repeating

A professional sports championship that was won in Las Vegas.  I wonder how many players still haven't seen the light of day since they won.

And we thought the Sabres had a bad lockeroom..this is some crazy poop going on in Ottawa

I would think they both have to go...at lower prices than expected..and Hoffman may be big time unemployable if the allegations are true.

6-13: Frolunda Captain Joel Lundqvist Talks Rasmus Dahlin with Jeremy White on WGR (8:22)

It's time to get #DialedInOnDahlin with @frolunda_hc captain and teammate of Rasmus Dahlin, Joel Lundqvist! He joins Jeremy White next on WGR!

Lundqvist - You could tell earliy that Dahlin was something else. He did stuff on the ice right away that made you think he's something special. He's gotten better and better, and he matured a lot this season. He's a top player in Sweden. #Sabres

Lundqvist - Dahlin had a really good year this seaspn overall with Frolunda, the Swedish National Team. He has all the skills to play in the NHL for sure. He needs to improve on some parts of his game, but I think he's ready to play in the NHL. #Sabres

Lundqvist - Dahlin has been playing with pressure since he was 16. He will face even more pressure next year in the NHL, but I think he can adapt to the game. #Sabres

Lundqvist - There's a big difference between Dahlin's first season and second season in the SHL. He's matured a lot, really stepped up his game. It was a big adjustment for him. #Sabres

Lundqvist - To play that good game-after-game at his age, I've never seen that before. Dahlin has got some extra talent for sure. #Sabres

Lundqvist - Dahlin is a smart player, he reads the game well. He's quiet to start, but he will get more relaxed and comfortable in the group. #Sabres

Lundqvist - Olofsson had a great season last year, improved a lot. He has the quickness and shot. He's very explosive in his game. Good guy off the ice as well. #Sabres

Lundqvist - Olofsson has the speed and shot to fit into the NHL. It will be an adjustment for him, but he has the tools. #Sabres

The Devils are going to have a massive deal in place for John Tavares.

And if the Caps can't bang out an 11th hour deal with Carlson, the Devils are going to have a massive offer for him too.

Crazy goings on in Devils land.

I am not saying any of this will work out, but this is just insane.

If the Devils land BOTH Tavares and Carlson, HOLY COW.

But I can't put the cart in front of the horse.

Doesn't seem likely.

Iirc, Fasching was originally acquired in a trade for Braydon McNabb. Now he is dealt for another defenseman, meaning, in essence, the Sabres swapped McNabb for Hickey.

Will be interesting to compare their careers a few years down the road.

Turned out to be another Murray misfire.

It was actually McNabb and TWO 2nd round picks for Fasching and Deslauriers

Well, let's see if Brandon Hickey even signs here first.

Hes is a college senior. He can turn UFA on August 15th. He's been traded 3 times now and hasn't even started his NHL career yet, because He has already refused to sign in Calgary (which is why he was traded to Arizona) and in Arizona (which is why he was traded here).

No kidding. Just another brutal trade and horrible asset management by Tim Murray.

We trade two 2nd round picks and Brayden McNabb, who was just #2 in even strength ice time (among defenseman) for the Stanley Cup runner up, for basically nothing.

We have Zac Redmond (career AHL defenseman) to show form that trade at the moment. And maybe Brandon Hickey if he decides to sign here, and possibly another career AHL player (Mike Sislo) if he signs here as a UFA.

Where as McNabb would easily be in our top 4 right now.

And i get that as far as the two 2nd round picks, the odds of drafting a good NHL player are not all that high. But it's more about what that package could have potentially brought Buffalo. You package two 2nds with a good young defenseman on his ELC, who's coming off an AHL all star appearance (McNabb at the time of trade) and ready to take the next step to the NHL, I have a hard time believing that Buffalo couldn't have used that package of assets for a better player than 4th round pick Hudson Fasching.
