Incognito Says "TNF Games are BS"

Doug Baldwin: Thursday NFL games 'should be illegal' - USA Today

Sherman wasn’t alone. Seattle left tackle Duane Brown sprained his ankle. Safety Kam Chancellor suffered a stinger. Defensive tackle Jarran Reed left the game in the first half with a hamstring injury. Linebacker Michael Wilhoite suffered a calf injury. Defensive linemen Sheldon Richardson and Frank Clark ran into each other in the fourth quarter, both leaving the game. Running back C.J. Prosise, who had missed most of the previous five games with a right high-ankle sprain, hurt his other ankle.

The Seahawks won, 22-16. No one in their locker room seemed to want to talk about that fact after the game.

“Guys don’t have time to recover,” said Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin, who hurt his groin during pregame drills but muddled through. “Hard to recover in four days.”

Asked whether all the injuries were Exhibit A as to why Thursday night games are tough on NFL players, Baldwin said: “It’s Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C, Exhibit D, Exhibit Z. Thursday night football should be illegal.”

But...........you know.........................the experts here have spoken............................... "Richie is a whiner"

no, he's no whiner. does the greedy nfl care? it would not surprise me if with the way the "word gets out"  they may look in to it. then again, greed can be blinding.

the injuries alone should wake them up to considering ending tnf?

....why yes of course, in the BEST interest of player safety (COUGH)......$$$ > safety..........

it's like the players are saying, no time to recover for some of them. I don't know, it all boils down to greed to me.

...c'mon, you're an old school purist.......what does it tell you when Goodell says he wants tp grow the "product" to 25 BILLION by 2027?........that is the ONLY focus?.....this asinine globalization a/k/a the "London Knights", "North Korea Bombers", the "Mexico City Burritos" or perhaps the "Hong Kong Hornets"?......as the US market tanks rating wise?......NFL has MORE negatively publicity than the NBA, NHL & MLB combined......stupid is as stupid does...oh wait, "Color Rush" will be the savior................

Mainly because the NFL has more publicity than all of those other leagues combined.

MLB's suspensions are all over the place and often happen in the absence of criminal charges or even complaints.  MLB fans don't care. No one else notices.

NHL, players are allowed to punch each other's teeth out, cross check, slash--maybe they'll get an in game penalty, maybe a fine, rarely a suspension.  Yet no one is talking about what the NHL is or isn't doing about risks of CTE.  No one cares (frankly, no one is watching).

And it's Pegula and the rest of the owners who want the NFL to be a 25 billion business in 10 years.  They just tell Goodell to say that out loud for them.  Goodell is just hoping he's still around by then, eating all the owners' sh##t sandwiches for them.  If the NFL moves to London, it won't be Goodell who put them there, but he will be the one sent out to tell us the news...

...interesting perspective.....seems odd that the NFL has MORE publicity than the other three major sports if you compare the length of the regular season (16 vs 80, 82 & 162)....I think the usual NFL off season indiscretions keeps them in the limelight and in a negative way.....MLB suspensions are their marketing ploy just like the 'Roids Era when a blind eye was turned post 1994 strike which was a crushing blow.....they could have stopped bench clearing brawls years ago with hefty fines & suspensions for entering the field of play if you're not one of the active nine.....hell, even hockey has made strides in that department.....and they've even tightened the reins penalty wise to where the game is far different from the 60' or 70's, a/k/a the "Broad Street Bullies"......the Puppeteers should never have The Puppet brag about growing it to a 25 billion dollar industry which just fuels the public image of the greedmeisters......the average Joe Fan that was rock solid foundation on which this league was built has been kicked to the curb as an afterthought....$500-$750+ plus for a family of four to attend a game is absurd......it's like getting patted on the head and being told "run along sonny, we don't need you anymore".....

I wish they would do a friday night game, I don't think they want to fight with college on saturdays otherwise a saturday night game would be awesome. It probably does suck for both teams and the players, but money wins. And they see a chance to make it on thurday nights.

....we'll never know what behind the scene "turf deals" are made.......BUT...as you said, MONEY wins in the best interest of player safety.......should be interesting to see the luvfest when new CBA negotiations start.....in the meantime, ratings CONTINUE to drop....hmmmm........

It is precisely because there are so few NFL games in a season that it is the most intensely followed.  Each game is precious and may have ramifications on the playoffs at the end of the season.  There are so many NBA/NHL/MLB games that they are individually worthless, really just something to do.  The Dodgers tanks the end of the season and still coasted to the WS.

Also, Joe Bills Fan could have gotten an individual ticket too to the Saints game at the beginning of the season in almost any regular seat (100's-300's) for $66-118.  Hardly absurd.

Even so, the vast majority of NFL fans never go to a game and instead enjoy multiple games a week at no added cost in the comfort of their own home.

Fixed...

"These Thursday night Sunday day games, they suck," Incognito said. "They throw a wrench in our schedule.

"As physical as this game is and as much preparation that goes into this, to force us to play games on four ten-day weeks, it's completely unfair and bulls---. Whatever. The league makes money off of it, and that's all they care about anyway."
