Z was WIDE open and that should easily have been a reception and big gainer. No excuse to miss on that throw. That being said, TT made good throws to Matthews and there were throws to Z that he should have caught. simpleman Posted September 25, 2017 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Our expectations are so low we judge that a finally acceptable, average performance by a QB as A+? TT greatest strength has been his excellence at avoiding costly turnovers. Our WRs are still overall, a poor group. Jones has been worthless so far. Holmes just barely acceptable. Matthews has been the competent bright spot as WR . Clay and the TEs are playing well. McCoy could file for non-support. Our new kicker had a great game. The O-line without Glenn is barely passable.The right side has continued to be a major liability, which is management's fault for the lack of talent. The D has been stellar. The D gave us great field position on stops and on turnovers multiple times. The offense squandered a majority of those "gimmes". The D made stop after stop and has changed the tide of the game repeatedly. The D turned an expected "L" into a "W". Denver's QB was merely pedestrian and made costly mistakes, the Denver coaches made stupid decisions, Denver players took stupid penalties that hurt themselves repeatedly. Coaching was still suspect beyond the D, time management continued as suspect. Yes, when compared to the dumpster fire of Rex, it looked better, but the HC, O-line coach and OC still have a lot to prove. And management decisions on who to keep or release still look bad. Really, Tolbert is a short yardage specialist, not a #2 running back. And we HAD good backup RB talent at a reasonable cost that we let go. Management and ownership still have a whole lot to prove. The takeaway I got from the game was that the D continues to be stellar. Management, coaching, the offense and ST managed to keep out of the way this game and to at least be passable and not make too many mistakes to ruin the D's efforts. Magox Posted September 25, 2017 Share Posted September 25, 2017 McCoy had NO holes to run through. It's not like he missed holes and made bad decisions. He was swarmed as soon as he got the ball almost every time. How anyone could blame the lack of a run game on him is amazing. Without doubt there was lousy blocking for him but there were a few plays that he could have gotten back to the line of scrimmage but ended up with a multiple yard loss. Yes, I get it with Shady you get the good with the bad and make no mistake when it was all said and done he was a net plus with those terrific run after catch passes he had, just that sometimes with his running style he will lose more yards than what could be given up which sometimes puts the offense a little further behind the 8 ball for those second/third and longs. This is something you see from really good teams. Yesterday that was the Bills! that is what good teams do. For a team with so much turnover, and cultural sea change- our Bills are pretty good. I'd say he deserved an A...he played very well today all things considered.The thing that most impressed me is he got the ball out faster. The first dropback he held it over 3 seconds and he got sacked. He was slow getting it out the first drive of both halves (his slow start to halves still frustrate me but that is nit picking) but other than that he was getting the ball out. The stats back it up as well that he got it out fast. After 2 weeks he was 31st in time to throw averaging 3.03 seconds. After week 3 he is 25th in time to throw averaging 2.83 seconds. That was crucial against the Denver pass rush obviously but I hope it is a trend that continues. I'd give him an A- for yesterday. One of his best games as a Bill. One of his best games as a Bill - That IMO would be TT passing for 320, 3 TD's passing, 1 or 2 rushing TD's. PLUS passing with anticipation AND hitting Zay in stride to where he CAN catch the ball. He has a tendency to lose more yards than he has to on some runs which is why Tolbert was more effective running the ball today. I'm guessing he will have a much better ground game next week. I thought that they were much more effective when they were leading with Tolbert on first down. Thunder, then Lightning rather than Lightning then Thunder. From the broadcast angle, I wasn't sure if he could've fit that ball much closer to Zay without hitting the hands of the defender. Whether he could've set himself and thrown quicker is another matter. Are you talking about this week or last week? LOL What a difference a lucky bounce makes!
