PFF: Bills are 31st for time for Taylor to throw.

31st in time to throw and TT can only manage to put up stats like less than 50 yards for first half?? What is he going to do when his time to throw is 2.4 seconds? Can we please move on from this guy already, sad.

He's bottom half of the league. Stats don't tell the whole story. Like EJ, he just can't read the field, read defenses, throw open receivers or work effectively from the pocket. His strength is his legs and athleticism. But for sophisticated, timing based passing offenses, he's not a good fit. And unfortunately, Dennisuck is not playing to his strengths. He's pulling a REXY and trying to force his square system into a round hole.

How do u draw such a bold conclusion after 2 games??

One of which he lead a dominant offense to 400+ yards.

Ppl need to relax and see how things play out. Two games isn't a big enough sample size. Ill bet the house he bounces back this week

Carolina was living in our backfield.

Yup. It was brutal, couldn't believe WR weren't out of their breaks and Taylor is getting pressured

The stat is how long it takes to throw the ball. Go look at nexgen stats on NFL.Com. Says the same thing.

(1) Taylor took the longest time time throwing the ball last year. This year he's near-bottom.

(2) Most quarterbacks at the bottom are highly mobile & run, so scrambling is a factor

(3) The difference between the most lightening fast to slowest is only about one second average time. That's how tightly this stat is grouped.

(4) The pass protection is frequently atrocious; Taylor sometimes makes plays by extending the play; Taylor sometimes holds the ball too long.

All three are true. You don't have to pick one exclusively....

Yes all true. Now look at the QBs in this type of offense being run and what it their time to throw number.

Maybe part of the reason for the bad pass protection is the ball is supposed to be coming out and it isn't. I don't recall too many 7 step drops so I have no earthly idea why he still has the ball after 3 seconds on average.

Sometimes, but that doesn't mean the line should stop blocking. These guys are getting manhandled. For all the great Goff looked last night he didn't face hardly any pressure and that's not because he always got the ball out in 2 seconds. He was pressured 3 times the entire first half.

Well said.

There is no one, anywhere in the NFL, making an argument for how good a QB Tyrod is, other than Bills fans.

That should tell you something.

This organization told Tyrod not to come back, effectively.

He obviously looked for employment elsewhere, found none, and came back for a new deal.

Tyrod would be kind of a fun backup to have on the sideline if the real QB went down during a game.

You'd ask him to come in, do what he does, play it safe, and get us out of the game with mitigated damage...

More than that he can't really do. Not consistently.

Newton got sacked 6 times last week, hit 12 more and hurried 7 or 8 times...his balls were still coming out on time for the most part

Tyrod is listed as 2.86 time to throw. Newton is listed as 2.76. 1/10 of a second difference. I'm trying to figure out what that has to do with what I said though. Goff is listed at 2.89 fwiw.

Because its been the same thing for 2+ years with Tyrod and it's not the OLine every time. After the same thing keeps happening over and over for a while the person holding the ball is to blame

I didn't say it was the Oline every time. Its partially the Oline. Its partially the receivers. Its partially Tyrod. All 3 have problems. It doesn't always have to be Tyrod.

I think "time to throw" is how long it takes Tyrod to throw the ball, not how much time the offensive line is giving him to throw.

Holding onto the ball too long before he throws has been an issue of Tyrod's.

I thought you said he was that good and a bag of chips. Has he succeeded so far? Well you know the answer LOL. Just a month ago you were all over Taylor. Like I told you I was gonna say," I told you" he would fail. Now it ain't the D. So what is it? Buy the way he had the ball in his hand with more that two minutes left ??? All his weapons on the field??? Oh plus 125 yards passing- 15 in the first half. In one quarter in his first game ever CJ had more than that??? I Love laughing at people that say things about football that they don't know. One other thing, prey that OSU does not loose any more. Because then I could really say they couldn't and they can't win without CJ. So everyone in the OSU universe will remember a winner when it counts, now explain or go research your intellectual excuses because it's all you have. Sad story isn't it. Edited by Noogie75

He has the ability to make the biggest difference out of the three

Dude, wtf are you even talking about?

Go ahead and find one time I ever said anything even close to "Tyrod is all that". All I ever said in our conversations is that he was better than Cardale Jones, when you said Cardale should be starting for the Bills this year and he was their only shot at winning (Lmao and you want to try and call me out for bad football takes? haha).

I still stand by that. Right now Tyrod is a better QB than Cardale Jones. How could any reasonable and sane person argue otherwise?

Because Cardale started the last 3 games of a championship season for OSU he's a better NFL QB than Tyrod? Right...

And Wtf does it matter about OSU? They won most of the season without Cardale the year they won that championship. He only came in for the last 3 games. And they won just as many games without him as they did with him the year he started for a bit.

It's a different team every year though. Players graduate, get drafted etc.

Oh, and the only time you ever get to come and tell me "I told you so" is the day that Cardale Jones turns into this great franchise QB that you think he is. Until then, keep your terrible football takes to yourself and leave me alone.

I think TT is a pretty mediocre overall QB. Some games he's just extremely frustrating to watch as he can't seem to do a single thing right... He often looks like he "senses pressure" when there's none to be sensed, or at least not to the point where it's a threat, and starts dancing around looking panicked ready to run before any real danger is approaching.

But I will also say the pass protection has not done him any favors. There are quite a few times where the second the ball is snapped, somebody (or somebodies - plural) is in the backfield after having blown right past a lineman... Half the time the opposing lineman doesn't have to do anything more than a quick side step and he'll come through untouched!

So yeah, I see there's a definite issue with the line (mainly on the right side). But Tyrod complicates the problem exponentially himself. Watching the Panthers game, from snap to pass Taylor would stare down one receiver the entirety of the play, never even trying to fool the defense. You could tell who he wanted to pass to the second the ball got in his hands! People like to point to his size as why he gets so many balls batted down at the line, but the real problem is the defensive linemen don't even have to put much effort into reading his intentions! He may as well be screaming "Hey! HEY YOU! HEY ZAY! You ready?! I'mma throw it to you now!" And hell if they ever have to worry about a pump fake... Not with good ol' T-Mobile at the helm! 85% of the time, wherever Tyrod looks when the ball is snapped is exactly where he's going to pass 2-3 seconds later, without a doubt.

Coupled with his spider-sense sending him false alarms making him want to run around before it's necessary, our lack of dynamic WR's and our shoddy right side of the O-line, it makes for a hell of a time for our offense to get in rhythm. And when there's no fear of the pass, 8 in the box just puts that much more pressure on the run game. Shady isn't a bruiser, and Tolbert isn't going to pick up many big plays, so it just complicates the entire situation making for some ugly possessions. With Denver's insane defense next (who just tore through the best offensive line in the league last week), it might get really ugly on Sunday :/

Gotta love when people debate facts with opinions. It's so stupid

PFF and their rankings aren't really facts, FYI.

It's basically the same thing as that poster...an opinion based off of what they watch.

I would put more stock into what a real fan of this team thinks as opposed to a site where many other factors can affect what gets put out for public consumption, but that's strictly my opinion

My opinion is Tyrod makes some very athletic "Wow" plays and Houdini like escapes and throws the deep ball very well, but struggles at doing a lot of the routine QB things like reading defenses properly, diagnosing what the defense is doing pre-snap, throwing to an area on the field to lead his receiver away from coverage and into the opening and trusting what he sees.

He is also a real threat to pick up 3-4 first downs every game with his legs, many times in 3rd and long situations.

However, due to his struggles with doing normal QB like things, when the Bills run game is not productive, Taylor is typically dreadful, bordering on worst starting QB in the NFL status, producing under 100 yards of offense in a half type bad and 30-40 yards passing. When the Bills run game is productive, Taylor can actually be pretty good. The issue is he has not shown he can beat a team with his arm when they take away the run game. He has had numerous chances to do so and still has yet to produce. In fact, what we normally see are games like last week where we continuously go 3 and out, have no rhythm and stuggle to even get first downs. Games I can remember off the top of my head are the Titans game, Giants game, Patriots game and most of the second half of the Raiders game where the offense just fell apart at the seams.

Taylor is what he is...a QB that will likely get you 6-10 wins in this league depending on the talent you surround him with. Good enough that he will start over bad quarterbacks but not good enough to start with a legit QB on the team. Personally even though I think we would be worse in the short term with Peterman in there, I think he would be a much better fit for this offense and would likely improve as the season goes along. Our record likely wouldn't be affected much as I think Tyrod is going to struggle to move the ball with any consistency against teams that stack the box against us and stop the run.

Meanwhile an 8th year veteran had a 125 yards passing in a whole game. But he gives us the best chance to win. I see people saying I'm crazy. It was pathetic last Sunday. I don't think he should even be in the league. I'm even embarrassed to say we have him as a QB. Everyone around the league is already talking so much trash. Then again, to most people is natural to loose. I can't believe that there is absolutely no reason why they let go of an second year project to defend a QB that done ran out of excuses to be great. Although having 8 years in the league. Saying" we have to execute". Yeah right, starting with you. Fans have been defending him forever, even after lousy performances. Specially against good teams. Over the summer someone said he would throw for 4000yards and 30 TD. Right, Maybe if we played the Jets 16 times. And I still don't think so. One day the Bills will win without y'all know who. My prediction this week. TT 341 passing yards 4 TDs,0 int. 103 QB rating. Happy everyone. Please believe me.........
