Tomahawks Fired At Syria

Recommended Posts

so at first i couldnt figure out why they left the airstrip intact

then i figured maybe they left it that way so it could be retaken/retained by the opposition

but there doesnt seem to have been barely a pause of syrian activity there so that seems unlikely

Because taking out a runway means real airplanes and real bombs.

Penetrators appropriately fused.

Cruise missiles are a very poor choice for runways, almost useless.

This was more of a message strike than a tactical decision to take out an airbase, and it makes perfect sense because using what would have been required would have involved infinitely more risk.

A poll, that wouldn't be 100% biased to get the answer it is paid for, would it?

A few years ago I was contacted by one of the major ones as a volunteer for regular contact for my intended voting on upcoming elections.

I told them I would 100% guaranteed vote and that I would in likelihood vote 98% of the time for the more conservative party.

They said no thanks, that I wasn't in their profile for what they wanted.

I gladly told them to go **** themselves and hope they find people who would vote liberal or socialist to meet their intentions.

An airbase is also more than just the tarmac.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/04/10/report_russia_knew_syria_planned_a_chemical_attack.html

"The official said a drone operated by Russians was flying over a hospital as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment. Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons.

The official said the presence of the surveillance drone over the hospital couldn't have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment."

Didn't Putin use terror bombings often in Chechnya to cower that "republic" back into line? Russian expertise being put to use

Putin: US plans to fake chemical weapons in Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly press the United Nations to officially investigate last week’s chemical attack in Syria, claiming, without evidence, that there are plans to fake the use of chemical weapons.
Reuters reported that Putin claimed Russia also has information that the U.S. is planning to launch new missile strikes in Syria following last week’s attack.
“We have information that a similar provocation is being prepared … in other parts of Syria including in the southern Damascus suburbs where they are planning to again plant some substance and accuse the Syria authorities of using [chemical weapons],” he said in Moscow, standing alongside the visiting Italian president, Sergio Mattarella.

i cant tell if putin is actually accusing the US of planting evidece after the fact for the latest chem attack, or just planning on planting evidence for future instances

i dont think theres much doubt we would plant fake evidence after the fact, we certainly arent above using that tactic. but to plant evidence in absence of a real chem attack just so that we can lob more missiles seems incredibly risky. but im not expert on covert operations like that, maybe one of our other experts can provide some insight

Read up on the 2013 chemical attacks that resulted in the now infamous red line.

It wasn't the Syrian army who unleashed that attack. It was the western backed rebels...

I'll hope for the best and have to wait and see what happens.

I won't be driven to complain and whine and B word 100% no matter what happens, like many on here..

if they cured cancer than many on here would complain about the golden days when we used to have cancer...

Don't confuse the clones with actual facts there DR. Most people don't have memory of anything more than the last thing they watched on CNN or MSNBC.

No, you dipstick. He tried listening to Flynn and Bannon and got burned, and is seeing that once you have the awesome responsibility of the presidency and the access to intelligence that the rest of us aren't privy to, perspective tends to change.

You become more of a grown up and realize that just saying "Repeal Obamacare" or "We only want to take on ISIS" are much easier said than done and are not realistic objectives without having to compromise on those objectives. You can still want to go in the direction of the things that you campaigned on, but to believe that you can implement 100% on the bluster through the campaign is a fool's errand.

Watching you yahoo's, the alt-right, the nationalists and some of the anti globalist "con" media hucksters get all up in a tizzy is amusing to say the least.

Repealing Obamacare doesn't mean endorsing Barrycare lite. Never said it would or could happen overnight. Never said he could defeat ISIS all at once. Did I even mention ISIS? My point was he said he didn't want to get involved in war. Within two months he did. He said he was going to repeal and replace Obamacare. Not reinstall the same thing. So what's the definition "alt-right" . Does it mean you don't want to be involved in war everywhere killing innocent people? Sign me up and you pretentious azzholes like you and meazza can sit behind the keyboard and ask other kids to go fight an murder people around the globe. What will you call yourselves? Caps Lock-Neo Con's? Maybe Cap Locks-****'s is more appropriate.

BRIDGET JOHNSON: A few takeaways from today’s NSC briefing on Syria.

•Sarin confirmed as the nerve agent used via testing on victims as well as symptoms. Secondary responders also suffered exposure symptoms.

•Su-22s from Shayrat airfield dropped the sarin on Khan Shaykhun; conventional weapons were dropped about six hours later on hospital treating sarin victims – “no comment” from officials on if Russia did latter.

•No ISIS or other terrorists in area have sarin (just mustard gas) – attack was “not a terrorist holding of sarin or a terrorist use of sarin”
