I rather liked the gauntlet match; they gave each guy a chance to shine as a preview for Sunday.

Though no one should have been surprised at the ending, especially after Rollins' part of the story ended.

It was a great way to start a RAW, the middle part was lacking a bit, but I think Rollins came out looking like a million bucks and I actually cared for him as a face for once.

Also, what was up with Cena, it seemed like he was starting to turn heel, one can only hope!

Cena is Cena. He's been sticking his toe on the heel/face line most of his career, teasing a turn to generate interest in a stale character. A lot of his promos over the years could be considered heel promos. They'll not actually pull the trigger with all the kid-friendly stuff he does (make-a-wish, Kids' choice awards, fruity pebble merch, etc.). Same reason WWF never went heel with Hogan.

The money is there for the taking with Cena as a heel, but I suspect that the WWE feels that losing the positive publicity Cena generates outside of wrestling is too much to risk.

I know I get all of that, but if he went his "Hollywood Cena" a la Hogan it would be amazing, and it would fit in with his schedule. Plus it would allow for someone to take the Reigns (see what I did there) as their next top face and transition him to that role (not that I want him there, just I feel like that is what they have planned)

it is really becoming unwatchable...the skits between matches are completely ridiculous.  That skit with eilijah and bron strohman was unbearable to watch, the Miz crap is horrible.  frigging wrestle.  I'd rather they show no-names wrestiling stars as filler matches....the entrance themes, the bray wyatt/matt hardy bs is simply horrible.  hopefully they can get back to the wrestiling as the main draw and scale way back on the crap.  I support professional wrestling as much as the next guy, but even with my understanding of the whole showmanship aspect of it, they are gonna lose a big portion of the audience if they continue with the bullcrap.

Nah. The "stop with the dumb skits, just wrestle!" crowd has already moved on to NXT, ROH, NJPW, etc.

If they're still watching WWE by now, I doubt they're going anywhere.

I love raw and smackdown, but I really can't watch it much anymore. I want to continue being a fan, but I fear I'm going to bail on wwe like I did with strern recently

That's fair. For my wrestling fix (since I can't really sit through modern WWE), I subscribe to the WWE Network and started a chronological re-watch of both WCW and WWF, starting in 1987 and going show for show through the years. It's been GREAT fun.

For modern stuff, I watch NXT, ROH, or Japanese matches that catch my interest, with the occasional WWE highlight (Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania) thrown in. The $9.99 per month for the Network is a great buy, since I get thousands of hours of archive footage AND access to every PPV the WWE puts on.

But overall, I agree with you. It's basically unwatchable these days. A real shame, since the current roster (Nakamura, Zayn, Owens, Styles, etc) is as good as it's been in many, many years.

The roster is so talented, I blame the creative team. NXT is great because it keeps things simple, WWE main roster needs to get back to that.

I try, I want to like it.... but the 3 hour Raw episodes are way too much.  I cannot invest that much time.  A lot is just filler. They also seem to break for commercial at bad times now too which kills continuity and momentum.

i am a day behind as i watch on hulu, was it that bad??

I liked the first few minutes (pre-bell) and the ending. The match itself was meh. Biggest problem is that they really didn't do a whole lot to introduce the Broken universe to casual WWE fans, and they really didn't put forth much of a story of Matt's descent into being 'woken'. Cole apologizing for it sucking in his intro was not helpful.

Well, at least they still manage to have 2-3 recaps of what happened in the first segment.
