A little butt hurt I can see TT is bad and everyone knows it except Rex and the CoT. Arguably, Tyrod is pretty average. Good at some things, bad at other things, overall pretty average. fridge Posted December 27, 2016 Share Posted December 27, 2016 Personally, I think something like ANY/A from Profootball reference is a better indicator of production. Just measuring total yards doesn't really tell you everything, since two equally talented QBs could be ranked different depending on play calling. ANY/A rankings have Tyrod at 9th and 19th, averaging out to just about average. Which, the eye test tells me lines up. This year is down, imo, partially due to missing WRs for multiple games, especially deep threats. Do I think Tyrod is a guy who can carry a bad defense? No. Do I think he is a guy that can win with an average to good defense? Yes. We have talent on the defensive side (at least I think so). If our new DC can convince the FO that the defense will improve, I could see Tyrod coming back. This is probably the correct take. Tyrod can appear, especially on paper, to be a very average QB. He is a super athlete which can help him trend upwards in many situations, but he's been virtually incapable of rising when the going gets tough. I think overall he is a very flawed QB that could be hidden well on a great team. He does enough and is safe to the point where you can never outright blame him for losses. He just never does enough to take credit for the wins either. I think the Broncos would have made the playoffs with Tyrod, but I also think the Browns would still only have one win with him. Doesnt scream well for Tyrod option kdiggz started a topic on this almost 20 minutes before you but you had to start a new one since you have an unhealthy obsession with TT. Yeah, it really comes down to being reasonable about our options. A good QB isn't exactly common, there's what 10? in the league, maybe? So if one isn't clearly available, and you have the cap space, then why not keep Tyrod... unless you are expecting the defense to stay horrible, or are planning to completely tank. How bad would he fail if he was asked to try and have an average pass attack and not settle for second last? Or if the record setting rush attack over the last 25 years wasn't his friend and covered a lot of his faults? I don't think he gets any interest for a starting QB job, backup, sure not starter. I understand he is being "redshirted" but EJ is gone after this game. Starting him doesn't do anything developmentally for this team. I don't think it matters who the Bills trot out to start I think they beat the Jets as that team has entirely folded so I don't think the tank this game idea holds any water. Hell, he still might turn out to be that way somewhere. Great? Probably not. Alex Smith like? Sure. I actually liked what I saw from EJ under Roman/Lynn (yes, even the Jax game, with the 5 minutes of terror). Do I keep him over Tyrod though? Probably not. Tyrod is safer, at least with this offense.
