Carson Wentz Exposed

I said it months ago, and got panned (per usual) .... Wentz's mechanics are awful, and have finally become an issue.... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/theres-something-wrong-with-carson-wentzs-throwing-style-and-much-of-nfl-has-caught-on-011427565.html

I would like to take this time to also point out that Cardale Jones' mechanics are (In my humble opinion) -excellent... Not sure where I'm going with that, but take it for what it's worth.

You're obviously going to yet another let's see what Cardale has got" thread.

Wentz will be fine.

Wentz played his whole college career against one and two-star recruits in front of high school-size crowds. Cardale had his greatest (nearly unprecedented) success against teams loaded with NFL talent on the biggest stage imaginable, but it's Cardale who's considered "raw".

After that, his own college coached benched him in favor of some other dude.

Cardale never lost a start while at OSU... What he DID do is win a National Championship there... in a playoff system, no less...

Starting this kid's career off with games that don't matter is 100% bass-ackwards thinking... -Typical of Wrecks Ryan

After winning the Championship, he had to compete for a starting job. And then had to share it.

Lol he is a rookie that has played pretty well over all. I mean if you love ok at rookie numbers:

56.7% completion percentage 3739 yards 26 TD 28 INT WOULD THIS stat line be a bust?

Completely different NFL with much different rules, so not really an apples to apples comparison.

That said, the knee jerk reactions to young qbs is so strange. Wentz has two good games and people want to put him in the Hall Of Fame. Now he struggles, like most rookies learning the hardest position in sports do, he sucks. His weapons are bad (Jordan Matthews would be a good #2). I don't think he will be an elite type guy but I think he will be more of the mode of Flacco/ Dalton which is plenty fine.

Hell be alrite, just gotta keep workin on the mechanics and convert to muscle memory. We all knew after a few weeks and people had film on him things would be a lot more difficult. Another year of study to see what teams did to shut him down and he should be fine.

Maybe. Tom Brady was very far from a finished product early on, worked (and works) like crazy, and turned himself into the all-time winningest QB in history. So, yes, it can be done. It is anything but a given though. There are tons of guys that work hard (Tim Tebow had bad mechanics and worked his nads off to correct it) and don't amount to much in the end. And there are, of course, the JaMarcus Russell types as well.

At the bare minimum, they need to get a legit boundary threat. Matthews can be the slot receiver, hot read, safety valve type across the middle. The offense would probably benefit from another decent RB as well. Mathews has done okay when healthy but I doubt he'll get better at staying healthy now he's creeping towards 30.

They really are the team I'd love to see Dalvin Cook end up with. Cook as the feature, Mathews as short yardage/GL, Sproles/Smallwood as 3rd down specialist.

I know it is taboo these days but the Rams plan for Jim Everett back in the day was to give him a series. If it worked out give him a drive. If it worked out give him a quarter. Apparently now days that would tear a team apart, although this team already looks disjointed anyway.

Perhaps the fact that most of the players know they'll be around longer than the coaching staff has something to do with this. As a player, why bother investing in developing your game under the flavor of the month coach's system? When things go bad, it's nothing but a death march and everyone knows it. Ownership will just hit the easy button in December or January. The coaches are circling the drain and the players are texting their agents on where they can skip town to.

In defense of Wentz, he started to look bad when Lane Johnson was suspended and the Eagles skill positions are among the worst in the NFL.

I think Cardale can succeed in the league, but not on our team this year. For him we need to really beef up the line and get some WRs who can make plays in the vertical passing game. He's never going to be a "west coast" style QB who can make quick reads and get the ball out, he'll need a team similar to what Dallas and Oakland has, a great offensive line that gives him time and WRs who can make plays down the field. We don't have the horses at WR for him. He'll do the same thing that is driving people nuts with Tyrod right now, hold the ball too long because guys aren't getting open down the field.
