bobobonators Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) Luck, Brees, Rivers & Rodgers are proof positive the "all you need is a QB" mantra has set sail. All of their teams have major deficiencies defensively or in the run game. With the league skewing younger and younger, getting into shootouts weekly is not a sustainable model for success, the teams that have won over the last couple years protect the ball, run it down your throat (or in NE's case, have a short passing game that doubles as a running game) and turn you over defensively. Our defense is the real culprit this year, outside of the Baltimore game we've won every time we kept the opponent at 21 points or less and lost every time we've given up more points. Lets not forget about Matt Ryan throwing for 250-350 on a weekly basis and his team doing diddly squat the majority of his career. Sure looks good though. So I suppose it has been said over and over again. Everybody else has been saying that the rest of the Colts suck. For some reason you see that as an "excuse" instead of a genuine reason. The Colts actually won more games without him than they did with him in 2015. 6-3 without him, 2-5 with him. 3. He has more turnovers than TD's in 3 seasons in the playoffs. 4. He has NEVER had a postseason with more TD's than turnovers, even after winning 11, 11 and 12 games in those playoffs years in the regular season. 5. His playoff QB rating is very low in 3 years, again on a team that won 34 games over those 3 regular seasons. 6. He has real long term injury concerns the way he plays. Bottom line, his story is far from over. He does need more help on that roster, so its more than likely we haven't seen the best of him yet. However, at this time, he is too often over rated for what he has delivered. You can't be considered a top QB in the NFL when you turn the ball over as much as he does, see your play dramatically drop off in the post season from what it was in the regular season, and watch your team win more games with you off the field. Personally, I do believe he will get better, but until he does, he is not the guy many paint him to be on this board when they talk about him. He has the tools and potential to be that guy, but until he is he is just an over rated QB making more than he is producing. He gas beaten exactly zero good teams in the playoffs. Zero. The only debatable one is a game against the Chiefs where he staked them to a big lead by playing crappy and then the Chiefs returned the favor. You know what.... I'll give you Denver that one year before they got crushed by flat balls. It was a nice road win against a decent, if overrated team. The facts are that he is burning their salary cap and producing very little in return. I have nothing against him. He seems like a good dude, but facts are facts. I find it weird that people are simply willing to believe he is wonderful because that us the mantra but when you watch him play the Colts barf it up time after time in tight late game situations against bad teams.
