With all of the awards of last year being handed out, movie studios get back to big business as the Spring Season arrives with a fair amount of big name titles. Normally the months of March and April serve as a precursor to the big Summer Season, but lately they have flexed their own box office muscles with some huge numbers. This season will continue that trend especially at the end of the month as one title has many comic book fans salivating.

Warner Bros. & DC finally get into the act that has been dominated by Disney & Marvel. Pitting the two most iconic names in comic book superhero lore with, "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice". Fearing the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on Superman, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs. With Batman and Superman fighting each other, a new threat, Doomsday, is created by Lex Luthor. It's up to Superman and Batman to set aside their differences along with Wonder Woman to stop Lex Luthor and Doomsday from destroying Metropolis. Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne & Jeremy Irons.

John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead star in, "10 Cloverfield Lane". After getting in a car accident, a woman is held in a shelter by two men, who claim the outside world is affected by a widespread chemical attack. Also starring John Gallagher, Jr. & Donald M. Griffin.

Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart & Morgan Freeman star in "London Has Fallen". In London for the Prime Minister's funeral, Mike Banning discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders. Also starring Angela Bassett & Radha Mitchell.

Shailene Woodley returns in, "The Divergent Series: Allegiant". After the earth-shattering revelations of Insurgent, Tris must escape with Four beyond the wall that encircles Chicago to finally discover the shocking truth of what lies behind it. Also starring Theo James, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Naomi Watts & Jeff Daniels.

Disney presents, "Zootopia". In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy. Starring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba & Jenny Slate.

Jennifer Garner stars in, "Miracles From Heaven". A young girl suffering from a rare digestive disorder finds herself miraculously cured after surviving a terrible accident. Also starring Kylie Rogers, Martin Henderson, Brighton Sharbino, Courtney Fansler & Queen Latifah.

Tina Fey stars in, "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot". A journalist recounts her wartime coverage in Afghanistan. Also starring Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman & Alfred Molina.

Sacha Baron Cohen & Mark Strong are, "The Brothers Grimsby". A new assignment forces a top spy to team up with his football hooligan brother. Also starring Rebel Wilson & Freddie Crowder.

In "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2", A Portokalos family secret brings the beloved characters back together for an even bigger and Greeker wedding. Starring Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, MIchael Constantine & Lainie Kazan.

Finally in "The Other Side of the Door", After her young son is killed in a tragic accident, a woman learns of a ritual which will bring him back to say goodbye, but when she disobeys a sacred warning, she upsets the balance between life and death. Starring Sarah Wayne Callies, Jeremy Sisto, Sofia Rosinsky & Logan Creran.

I can see it in his mind. "But, I'm Ben Affleck. I directed "Argo". Why would the critics say this about a movie of mine? Batman is a natural fit for me. Sh!t! I better go beg Jennifer to take me back!"

It's tracking to do about 175 million last I checked. So it should surpass Deadpool -- or at least Warners better hope it does.

The opening weekend numbers, I can understand. Let's see what happens after word-of-mouth spreads.

I thought the racial undertones in Zootopia were a bit much. I get the message, but it was beaten to a pulp.

Batman vs Superman was fantastic. If you read the comics and knew all the references and stories they touched on, it was actually brilliant. If you didn't like Man of Steel, then you won't like this. I think that everyone wants to have an opinion and it's easier to hate something because it doesn't match your vision. This isn't the Reeves Superman and it's not Nolan's Batman. It's Frank Millers Batman and it's Loeb's Superman. And they are considered the best writers for each characters of all time.

If you want bubblegum comic movies, watch Avengers.

I really enjoyed BvS, thought it definitely has pacing issues. News came out today that the movie had about 30 mins chopped off, fairly late in the game, due to studio concerns. Extended version to be released on Blu Ray, which hopefully fixes some of the pacing. Either way, I'm gonna go see it again. Best big screen Batman, imo, and Wonder Woman was awesome.

10 Cloverfield Lane was a good thriller, but also not what I expected/wanted out of a Cloverfield movie... so I was disappointed, unfortunately. That being said, remove the expectations, and you have yourself a really good movie.

I've yet to see a longer cut of a film fix pacing issues in a shorter cut.

So BvS was originally 3 hours?

Longer. I heard from some folks it clocked in close to 3:20.

Wow!

I have no problems with movies having long running times, and I enjoy these superhero movies, but that would be a tough sell for a lot of moviegoers.

Completely agree. As you said earlier in the thread, it'll be interesting to see how the movie does in coming weeks with all the bad reviews. It'll still be a monster, especially overseas, but if it doesn't cross the 350 domestic mark a lot of people are going to start to get very nervous about their plan for the DC Universe.
