Ozymandius
Donald Trump has said that he would "get along very well" with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Apparently, the feeling is mutual. Putin offered high praise for the billionaire businessman turned Republican presidential front-runner on Thursday during an annual news conference with reporters. "He is a bright and talented person without any doubt," Putin said, adding that Trump is "an outstanding and talented personality." And in remarks closely mirroring Trump's own assessment of the race, Putin also offered his assessment of the U.S. presidential campaign, calling Trump "the absolute leader of the presidential race," http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/17/politics/russia-putin-trump/

Tiberius
Was watching "Vice" on HBO last night and it was the episode on Putin and Russia. Economic sanctions have really hammered Russia. The ruble is in free fall and Russians are experiencing serious inflation problems. Putin is probably wishing Bush had stayed president and Obama had not rallied the world community against him and Russia

The ruble is in free fall and Russians are experiencing serious inflation problems. Putin is probably wishing Bush had stayed president and Obama had not rallied the world community against him and Russia Russia's economic problems are tied to energy prices. Obama has tried to curtail exploration and production but has failed in that regard. Whether Russia would be worse with Bush cannot be determined, but Russia certainly wouldn't be better off with him. As I've stated here numerous times, the way to control Russia is through energy. It wasn't that many years ago that they could hold Europe hostage by threatening to withhold natural gas from them. Now it's a blue light special.
