I saw this article linked online.  There’s some interesting stuff here.

@ComradeKayAdams  Do well-intentioned human-caused-climate-peoples really  really not equate flying across country on an airplane part of the climate problem?   Do you think that because they only fly on occasion that there is no impact on the environment from the airplane being loaded with jet fuel to get them from point A to point B?    Not to mention booking air travel on a computer/laptop/driving to/from the airport,  placing clothing made from petroleum byproducts into suitcases shipped via cargo vessel from Thailand?

Do you think that they really think recycling the boxed wine  box, or the plastic bag that held the Wonderbread is doing the heavy lifting on climate change just because it’s done on the regulars?

And this climate lady, the one with the dog, why does she even have the dog?

I feel like this is all dumbed down to an absurd level.  I just threw a Snapple bottle on the sidewalk from the window of my Dodge Durango in protest.

(jk-I recycle and don’t have a Durango.  Total gas guzzler!)

Of course air travel is a big polluter.  But, if I forego my trip to visit my Mom, the airplane is still going. I haven't saved squat. Electric cars are cool I guess, but you have to drive one 80,000 miles before you are polluting less than a gasoline car.  Most of the people driving them around have bucks so are probably  gonna trade it in on the new latest greatest one before then.  I have a dog and I'm not having put to sleep to save the planet.

I have come to the conclusion lately that recycling and light bulbs etc is really not helping much if any.  Not when you got other countries not caring and polluting out the ying yang.  Add in the data centers to run crypto and AI (don't get me started).  Musk is polluting the heck out of Memphis running his data center.  And then you got all the rich and famous people flying around in private jets.  President Trump flying that 4 engine behemoth back and forth to Florida every weekend. I said the same about President Biden going back and forth to Delaware and Jill Biden flying from Europe to the USA and back to attend Hunter's hearing.

I'll continue to recycle etc but it's spitting in the wind probably.  At my house on trash day we have 3 huge diesel powered trucks come by. One for trash. One for recycling and one for yard waste.  How efficient can that be?

I don't think we can conserve our way out of this.  We need to figure out how to take the carbon out of the air IMHO  or take mitigation efforts like building bigger sea walls etc.

It's another big money hustle. All these NGOs get billions to support an army of otherwise unemployed activists.

Governments and investment banks on Wall Street are salivating at the idea of creating carbon credits traded thru a big profitable exchange while the public gets screwed with more taxes, fees, and increased product costs. The wealthy talk the game , generate PR and make appearances, but don't play the game, yachting and flying all about.

Meanwhile, China and India pump out two addition units of CO2 for everyone one unit we're coerced to eliminate.

On logical inspection it's all quite ridiculous. Sadly all the slogans and bought off "scientists" are out there to thwart logic and questioning.

I saw the Comrade in another thread carrying a virtual hatchet and menacing posters.  It wasn’t as extreme as a guy in a 2020 Silverado yelling “Get A Life!” at a retired Physician Assistant from a mid-sized suburban dermatologist office at a rally against fascism, but still….chilling.

Best watch your back for a bit.

On top of that, even if the Climate Change people reach their "goal" it still has a statistically negligible impact, if any. It's all about money and control.

All of the granola types whom I know are well aware of the impact that airplane travel has on carbon emissions. Some aspects of modern life are simply unavoidable, no matter one’s commitment to green living. If you look at carbon emissions pie charts, you’ll quickly see that transportation represents a fairly small portion. You’ll also likely surmise that direct government regulations on various industries are far more impactful than the collective individual lifestyle choices among consumers.

An intrinsic value of recycling comes from its positive impact on environmental conservation, even if you’re not all that impressed with its contribution to overall carbon emissions reductions. Lesser demand for new resource extractions lessens the pressure on ecosystem integrity.

Dogs are wonderful human companions. Let’s keep our furry friends and offset their carbon “pawprint” by planting more trees. A deletion in greenhouse gas emissions, sure, but what about the “paw-icity” of LOVE in our hearts??

Surely you noticed the article’s references to eating meat, right?? I’ve been telling you this for five years, Leh-nerd…

What’s so frustrating with you are the fatalistic intimations in all of your climate change posts: problems are hard so why bother, people are hypocritical so why should I myself try, blah blah blah…

“Menacing.” “Chilling.” “Watch your back.” “L.” “O.” “L.” Sometimes you can be such a baby, Leh-nerd. It’s time for you to become an adult and start accepting responsibility for my literary bouts of Lizzie Borden rage. Causal to my macabre idioms and nursery rhymes was a perfectly valid primal response towards the transgression of justifying/denying an ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing. FURTHERMORE, Leh-nerd…YOU chose to give my thoughtful post an eyeroll emoji response SANS any sort of follow-up written explanation. How dare you.

Oh, and I didn’t even literarily assault you with an axe, dude!! All I did was spray bear mace in your rolling eyes, if you recall. Now have I figuratively punched you in the face from time to time? Sure. Figuratively kicked you in your groin? No doubt. Did I figuratively shoot you with a crossbow once upon a time? Touche! Recommended your cannibalization to a marauding gang of ne’er-do-wells? Guilty as charged. Threatened to attack you with beach chairs? Perhaps. Threatened to drown you in Muppy’s San Diego pool? No comment. Threatened to shove Impossible Burgers down your throat until your digestive system exploded? I plead the Fifth, your honor. Stabbed you repeatedly with the heels of my Portuguese imported cruelty-free vegan shoes that you once insulted, while maniacally shouting, “I drink YOUR milkshake, Leh-nerd! I drink it up! I am the Third Revelation!,” followed by a frantic disembowelment, the cutting up of your body parts, the stuffing of said body parts in a storage bin, a multiple-hour drive up north to the Adirondacks, a makeshift burial about a quarter mile off-trail, a multiple-hour drive back with plenty of time to contemplate a plausible alibi, and a brief return to the crime scene to bleach the area of any remaining DNA evidence? That was just a daydream, Leh-nerd, and last I checked this ain’t no Minority Report dystopia. This is the Politics, Polls, and Pundits forum of Two Bills Drive. That’s all it is.

Anywho…my point, to which you are now well-accustomed, is to go vegan because it’s good for the environment and for the animals. Doing so will also help you become less fat and smelly. Cheers! – Kay

Try a steak...

You'll feel better and probably feel more emotionally balanced...

China is totally killing us on green energy. China took our technology in solar and ran with it while Republicans, tied to fossil fuels, are blocking this very good technology. China is laughing at Trump killing green energy. Just stupid

Well la-dee-dah, after telling your grandchildren that your old pal Leh-nerd was a climate Neanderthal, you can tell them you were committed to the cause except when aspects of modern life were unavoidable, at which time you were down with the petro.  Glad to hear your granola munchers figured that emissions thing out with the planes.  The author of the article seemed to think that whole dealio was quite tricky.

I’m never quite sure about offsetting pollutable behavior by buying/planting  $&*t on an individual level, Kay.  That always strikes me as a cheesey way to pollute, especially for wealth folk like you.  Plant the tree. Eliminate the carbon creating activity.  No need to fuss about certain aspects and such. The End.

I’ve had two dogs during my adult life, and have planted 10+ trees and probably hundreds of plants and shrubs (you probably call it dinner).  I think it’s time to acknowledge I’m on the right track here.  Maybe some of my plantin covers some of your pollutin, huh Kay?  That’s somethin!

No to vegan for now, but stay tuned.  I don’t hate the idea completely. And yes, Politics, Polls and Pundits.  Not Politics….Polls…Pundits and those with a dismemberment fetish. 🙄

Is anyone really traveling frivolously by air, aside from uber-wealthy jet-setters? You seem to be taking up the arguments now of granola Luddites!

I will reiterate that making eco-friendly choices in your personal life is to always be encouraged, but these choices are rendered meaningless if not coupled with any political awareness at all four levels: local, state, national, and international. Stop voting for politicians who deny the obvious science of anthropogenic climate change, who dismantle environmental regulations, and who impede the growth of relevant emergent technologies (solar and other green tech, EV’s, artificial carbon sequestration, high-speed rails and other civil infrastructure upgrades, Gen 3/4 nuclear fission reactors, novel materials, funding for fundamental science research, etc.).

I’ll give you a practical example of what I mean by “political awareness.” It’s super commendable that you are planting trees on your property, but it would be far more impactful if you were also directly involved in community reforestation efforts! Here in the beautiful state of New York, we are trying to meet our climate goals by planting 1.7 million acres of new forests by 2040. It’s ambitious and will require some degree of bipartisanship to have our state government purchase old farmland and curb excessive suburban sprawl. Won’t you help us downstate hippies out, dear Leh-nerd?? << Kay Adams innocent doe eyes >>

Speaking of prominent and manipulative eyes…I see the emoji with which you chose to end your post, Leh-nerd… First of all, no I do not have a “dismemberment fetish.” It’s strictly a matter of pragmatism. How else am I to transport the absurdly heavy body of an adult male omnivore with a BMI of 24.8?? You even serial kill, bruh?? Second of all, how dare you kink shame! Third of all, your emoji eyes seem to be rudely fixed in an upward direction. Here, let me adjust them…

<< punches Leh-nerd in the face >>

That better? No? Here, let me try again…

<< punches Leh-nerd in the face >>

Ugh. Now I feel bad for assaulting you. Hey, how dare you make me feel bad about myself!

<< punches Leh-nerd in the face >>

Double ugh. Perhaps we should just hit the reset button on our forum friendship? I’d love to have you for din…er, have you over for dinner sometime. If you bring with you a nice bottle of Chianti, I can make a delicious fava bean-themed vegan dish and invite some of my great big fat people friends.

Yes, apparently according to the author of the article I shared.  Geez Kay, first seek to understand, then to be understood. I keep thinking you'll stop.look.listen and you keep rushing in.

Yes to the bolded. Yes to encouraging technological advances to making the environment safer for all inhabitants including the plants you devour like a fashionably trim T Rex with your baby arms and svelte physique.  No to climate scams, praying at the altar of false prophets looking to cash in on Big Climate Hysteria.

Ah, my version of "super commendable" behavior is nice, but to in order to earn the coveted seat at the Climate Change Moral Authority Crawfish Boil and Dinner Dance (this year's festivities held at a somewhat eco-friendly nearly carbon neutral boutique hotel and spa on the beach in St. Kitts), more better different is really what's needed.  Kay's way.  Pass, Kay.  No thank you, Kay.  Beyond the audacity and hubris of the request, my time will be devoted to the planning and construction of a new home in a nice community in the suh---suh--suh---well, it rhymes with Buburbs, Kay.   On the bright side, I wish you well in your city of choice.

I do love the idea of reforesting, and kudos to you for getting your hands dirty as I have done so many times before (apparently  well before the Adams family welcomed a little beret-wearing baby Kay into their home). Until this very moment, you struck me as more of an inside cat.

That better? No? Here, let me try again…

Ugh. Now I feel bad for assaulting you. Hey, how dare you make me feel bad about myself!

Double ugh. Perhaps we should just hit the reset button on our forum friendship? I’d love to have you for din…er, have you over for dinner sometime. If you bring with you a nice bottle of Chianti, I can make a delicious fava bean-themed vegan dish and invite some of my great big fat people friends.

Odd.  Still.

Who touched you and where 10 years ago when you were just a kid?

Projecting your pedophilic fantasies onto me is quite unexpected...

How long have you had these thoughts?

Have you had these thoughts before?

Ivanpah, the 5 square mile solar array in the Mojave Desert is closing down....

This is the array responsible for at least 6000 birds being fried every year, and that planes can't fly over for fear of being blinded.

Another Obama green energy boondoggle that now the main question I have is what do they do with it now?

I doubt much is recyclable so do they just bury it like they do the wind generators?
