Chicken soup for the Bills fan soul: 2 plays away from a 29-24 win

Recommended Posts

Play #1: Duke Williams turns around and catches the ball that is about to hit him right in the chest if he is looking. -7 from Pats*

Play #2: Robey holds on to the pick 6 that he had in his hands when he jumped the route on a New England* scoring drive. -7 from Pats* and +7 for Bills.

Then the turnover battle is 3-2, Brady threw 2 picks, 1 for a pick 6, the Bills win to take the lead in the division, and all this talk of New England and Tom Brady being invincible again doesn't happen.

If everything else plays out the same, and New England* moves the ball and scores on every other second half drive the Bills still win.

Two easy picks away from Marrone being a good coach, the Bills being division leaders, and New England being just another team.

Isn't football amazing?

Yet here we are at 3-3... Win these next two, hit the bye at 5-3, and get ready for ANOTHER showdown type game with KC that could send us to 6-3 and with a great shot at least at being in the wildcard mix

Plus, we play New England* again. Brady threw 2 picks.. the Bills just didn't catch them. Same thing Cincinatti did, dropping what would have been a huge pick 6

IF is such a BIG word.

Yup but those two plays were right there. We're not talking about incredible interceptions.

Brady threw up a prayer and got away with it when Duke didn't just turn around and catch it. Instead, Brady is back to being the "greatest QB to ever live" again simply because a defensive player didn't catch a punt.

Ditto with the Roby would be pick 6. Brady did the same thing vs the Bengals... threw it right to the DB who missed what would have been a pick 6. That's two weeks in a row he got away with his little dink and dunk crap when a DB jumped it. That won't last.

The point is that it looks like the Patriots* came in and handled the Bills. So many think the sky is falling.

In reality, the Pats* got lucky TWICE and the refs jobbed the Bills on offense with BS PI calls. I like the Bills chances in a rematch.

I actually didn't see the game that way either. I thought it was a well-contested game and turnovers decided the outcome, as they often do.

Sorry. HUGE pet peeve here.

In what logical paradigm are you allowed to change TWO (or more) plays and even suggest the outcome could possibly be the same? Everything that happens after the 1st change means EVERYTHING changes thereafter. There is no "Roby pick 6" to change. You changed every play for the rest of game..

Yeah, that is true. In a literal sense you're right.

But my point is more that the Bills allowed an extra 14 and left 7 on the field in just two plays. Of course the game would have taken another course even with the 1st pick. Maybe the Bills run away with it once they pick Brady off and the place is going nuts and he doesn't pick on Duke the rest of the game....

Still, the plays were right there to be had. If Brady throws those passes VS Denver the Patriots* lose by 14+

The Patriots* were not impressive to me.

Brady threw two passes that were begging to be picked, but the DB's dropped them so he got lucky. He tossed up a couple of deep prayers that were answered by bad DB play and 1 incredible catch as well.

That is not repeatable.

The Patriots* have 1 legitimate threat: Gronk, who always looks like he is about to suffer yet another season ending injury. That defense is decent but nothing special.

They are not running away with this division. They play Indy, Green Bay, Denver, SD.... Detriot will be better with CJ back. There are still some losses to come for them.

So the less 'impressive' team won the game, happens all the time, Especially to the Bills.

Great point... it's not like we were blown out 51- 7.

Come on now. Against good teams you've gotta make the plays. You can always find the ifs and buts. What's clear is as long as we see these guys finishing a few ifs and buts away from beating good teams, they just aren't ready to escape the inertia of their own mediocrity.

Sorry to pee in your soup. They aren't ready to be good yet.

I would agree with this. If Williams makes that INT early in the game, everything changes thereafter. Chances are that they change for the BETTER and we play better or chances are that Brady starts killing us sooner in the 1st half as opposed to waiting till the 2nd half. who knows. frankly, who cares.

I understand the premise that plays need to be made when they should - but they weren't. hence, why we lost.
