New England vs Buffalo 10/12. Who's going?

Recommended Posts

Not only will this be her first trip to Buffalo, it will be her first Bills game. I can't wait. I need advice on the best fish fry and pizza places to visit while we're there.

Long John Silver for the "Cod Wad" (fish nuggets in the shape of a football with a tartar sauce center) and Pizza Hut for the salad bar and pizza platter. Thank me later. Don't listen to any of these guys that say Hoak's for fish or LaNova or Bocce for pizza, they don't have credibility stars like I do.

Is Hoak's on the Lake still the best fish fry? Have not been there in years.... used to go all the time as a kid. Edited by YoloinOhio

I've boycotted New England games since the 55-10 Sunday nighter at the ralph

Pizza Hut and long john silvers really are the first things that come to mind when I think of buffalo food ;)

No way. I grew up in Southtowns and Hoax is still awesome on the lake. I used to look at that place so many days as I went to St. Francis.

Blasdell Pizza (either location) is awesome as well as Abbott Pizza in South Buffalo.

Don't forget to eat lots of Mighties, and get a beef on Weck with pickles. There was a place in Orchard Park that was fantastic, but I can't remember the name. I haven't lived there in 23 years, but always get my list of food from family when they come to FL to visit each year.

As long as I' m on a roll, go to Ted's for a hot dog, and drink lots of OV splits. You can't get them down here. Lastly, make sure you buy your Webers horseradish mustard as you can't get it anywhere else.

All of this talk about Buffalo food makes me think what I'm going to do with my boys when we go up for the game. We fly up once a year for a game and it's awesome.

We like to eat fresh so we go too a small local chain called Subway. They bake their own "bread" to boot.

Always a highlight.

Ahhhhh, not anymore thanks to the ever increasing long reach of our friend Danny Wegman.

I always offer to bring it down to my brother in Maryland on visits and he has to remind me that Wegmans carries it.

Gabriel's Gate is pretty phenomenal for both fish fry and wings.

I'd also recommend Duffs as the best wings in town. But depending on how you like them you might want to ask for them extra crispy as many here seek to think they come out soggy.

Bocce pizza really is the best. A close 2nd would be Imperial Pizza.

For fish fry, a good dive spot might be the Crows Nest Tavern or possibly Libros across the street.

Of course Hoaks is amazing. Can't beat the scenery there with the sun setting over the lake. It's a bar food type menu for sure. At least that's what they are great at. Fried chicken sandwich is amazing.

Enjoy.

is pearl st a pretty nice area?

I saw some nice hotels there but I want there to be nice food and night life in walking distance

stay at the Marriott downtown then. You'll have the canal side area. The Sabres. Cobblestone (what's left of it) and the casino nearby.

Or the Hyatt maybe. If I recall it's pretty close to Chippewa.
