No TE...... yet ?

Recommended Posts

why don't we use our crack scouting/front office team to identify someone like this ?

The NFL is a copycat league and I am sure we can find a beast power forward to try at TE.....thoughts?

We don't need no stinking TE ...

I really wish we would get one as we haven't had one since Metzelars. Chandler is ok but no game changer and maybe Kaufman pan out but how many times have we heard a good TE is a QB's best friend especially a young one. For some reason the FO doesn't value the position <_<

He's 6'5" and 220# and has never played organized football, much less TE, before? Good luck with that one.

you must not have heard about a guy named Antonio Gates then - played basketball only in college and that worked out pretty well for the Chargers..... :nana:

Despite never playing football in college,[7] as many as 19 teams were believed to have contacted Gates about a tryout. Gates chose to work out first for the San Diego Chargers. Recognizing his potential, the Chargers immediately signed him to a contract as an undrafted free agent.

Tony Moeaki was playing near Pro Bowl level before his injuries in KC and he's still pretty young

this.....is something I was thinking about during the draft yesterday. Would love to see it happen. I just thew the basketball player idea out there to illustrate another option

Gates at least played football in high school. This kid has never played any kind of organized football ever.

Because we don't need a tight end, not before the draft not now, not during upcoming training camp. I'm so glad we didn't take Ebron, the only need we have to address still is 4-3 DE to play opposite Mario. Branch is a 3-4 DE/4-3 DT (IMO). I'd give this draft a 8.5 out of 10.

The bills brought in someone from the University of Buffalo that was a Basketball player. I dont think they signed him, but they worked him out.

i am still pretty happy with chandler. while not a player that strikes fear into the hearts of opposing defenses, he has shown an ability to find a seam in the defense and has had fairly reliable hands. i know last year he had a couple of very inopportune drops/fumbles, but for most of his buffalo bills career he has been steady. the others are complete unknowns, but as long as we have chandler, i feel ok.

This is not true.

Apologies--slight exaggeration, but 47 catches for 560 and 3 TDs as a rookie in 2010 is pretty darn good. Let's see if Ebron, ASJ or Amaro match that this year. Those numbers are similar to Chandler's best year. Moeaki was out 2011 and had a slip in production in 2012 before getting hurt again in 2013. My memory may be influenced by his pretty good game against us in 2010 (3 for 45) including some nice catches, which I caught firsthand live.

There is some depth of players there and some quality may emerge. What I don't understand is how many people get excited about pass catching tight ends who almost never line up next to a tackle, but are split out. Aren't they just a big wide receiver 90% of the time? Why should they set the standard as to how many passes a true TE should catch?
