Biggest Training Camp Dissapointments

Recommended Posts

That being said, my "biggest" disappoint (if you can call it that) is D. Rogers. I was hoping to see him light it up a bit more in TC. I'll give him time, though. :)

As much as we all expect undrafted free agents to tear up the earth, I think I'm more disappointed in the Bills' starting left tackle being treated like a road cone all week, by many accounts.

Chrissakes Bleacher Report is the worst. I wish it could just get banned here. It's a nice way for practicing writers to learn and get an audience but 99% of it is garbage, re-postings from other sources with more credibility, and speculation.

last i knew, it was off limits here.

Astro's TC Disappointments By Position

RB---Drew Smith: One good burst of acceleration on one swing pass. <Gaskins, Brown, FJ and CJ.

WR--Brad Smith: More drops than catches and the new guys deserve his spot. Pass.

TE---Mike Caussin: Three training camps, three injuries, strike three.

OL---Hutch Eckerson: Should have been cut 5 days ago. What? He was? Chiefs signed him, though.

DB--Mana Silva: Wrong time to make it known you're leaving, no matter what the reason.

LB--Brian Smith: I didn't write this ND LB down once, but at least you didn't bring an inflatable to camp.

DL--Izaan Cross: It was a tie between Cross and Tipoti for least mentions. Ehhhh, waive 'em both.

OP--Your spelling of the word "dis-appoint-ment". Prefix, root, ending.

Is a dissappointment when you blow off a meeting?

Really? Most of the threads I've read have hardly mentioned Glenn.

A film feature on bb.com glows about Glenn at LT.

Try as I might, I just can't get worry-worked up about Cordy Glenn's play at LT. He'd be an All Pro at LG - which is something AL is not.

Forgive me, but I can't search for links right now. I was going off the BN blogs and camp notes, for the most part. We need that dude to be stellar.

I'll take Astrobot and mrags(I forgot to give mrags credit elsewhere, so, I'm doing it now) over bleacher report any day.

These 2 have outperformed certain members of the "real" media, as well. Especially when it comes to picking up on important details. (see...EJ doing 3 read progression yesterday, when he hadn't before. All we got from the media was "improved". I want the F'ing detail, because I know what that means, and so does pretty much every fan on this board, if they've hung around here long enough)

The premise for the article is dumb anyway. Who the hell "disappoints" in training camp, after not having played a single game?

Talk to me after the 2nd game. You can't disappoint until then.

Seconded.

Maybe, Glenn will be an all-pro at LG. But, according to what is posted here then he is gone in what 3 years? As I've come to learn the Bills do not value the LG or FS positions.

Moving Glenn to LG puts up a giant for rent sign on arguably the second most important position in the offense Left tackle. Seems, like we have seen this before.......

Wow, I almost feel guilty starting a thread about a B/R article. My apologies. Never again. I just thought the B/R article was a good conversation starter, not substantive, insightful journalism.

My own QB thoughts are these... 1st round QBs have maybe a 40%or 50% success rate. FA retreads like Kolb and Jackson have a lower yet success rate. UDFA's like Tuel very rarely become franchise quarterbacks. Given the odds, the failure of any of these guys can't be counted as a disappointment.

Sorry man, nothing personal. I just think your own ideas are probably more worthwhile to hear than those from B/R - it's just such a spotty source.

But no offense intended.

Yes, but he was NOT getting them four days in. Kolb got everything thrown at him right off the bat. Who knows where Kolb would be right now had be given all of the reps he has missed since hurting his knee.

agreed .

I have been trying to follow Rogers as some say he wont last on the practice squad long . For so much alledged potential he does not seem to be showing it yet. i dont think he is what the brochures described. yes yes i know about the 3 years for receivers , but few people have trouble bashing Graham last year. Who might become a very strong feature this year.

I guess i cant have too many dis-appoin-tments yet. just higher hopes for some players over others. and thats based on emotion more than fact.

But i am not unhappy with the way camp has gone in general. iI am ecstatic actually ! !

Do not be apologizing. Take it as a complement. I would rather read a TSW article by Hondo in Seattle then anyone on B/R. I would rather read someone who may have two cents in a post here then a free account and free time.

Had Kolb ever seen a fully unleashed Pettine defense before camp? I realize that he is a vet, but I suspect a lot of veteran QB's are going to have a tough time dealing with our new defense this season.

Also, Kolb reportedly had his best practice just prior to leaving the team to be with family.

Strong point.

I never understood this less polish. Maybe he is less Polish than the other prospects, but was he really less polished than Barkley, Geno, etc etc.

He's definitely less Polish than Kopernicus.

Kolb sounds German to me. I don't understand the "less Polish" comments either.

He's not Polish at all from what I can tell.
