Kind of.  They needed to get the President into the air so they could target Air Force One with the Stealth fighter that they were going to kipe.

The F-117A is hardly an interceptor. It is slow and has no air to air capability - not even guns. If it shoots down AF-1 I'll feel used - again.

Like I said earlier, they've taken plenty of license with the Air Force already. The only thing the average guy knows is it's a stealth "fighter." It's obvious that just any old person can get on base and steal a priority A resource with armament with nothing more than a silenced pistol and a severed thumb.

maybe it's just me, but i'm not sure there's a mole inside CTU. it's not as if marwan and the terrorists have been "one step ahead" of every CTU move since whats-her-face got killed. if there were a mole, don't you think marwan would have gotten word to that person to intercept the LAPD "hourlies" that had the info about the missing pilot's family? that info seemed to be pretty damn important to the mission. of course, the bumbling edgar/chloe scenario is also getting on my nerves. "you do it. no, you do it. no, you do it."

i dunno...i've been wrong about the plot twists in this show before...this season is still the best since year one.

No chance.  Edgar was the one who stopped 99% of the powerplants from melting down.  His mom died in the 1 that did.  No chance is he working for the terrorists.  There's a greater chance that Curtis is than Edgar.

I said that because this show is capable of anything. Not many suspected Nina was a mole in season 1, nor did we expect her to kill Jack's wife. Besides, in the previews for next week, I thought I heard Chloe saying something like "Edgar, what are you doing?". I just think you'd have to be aware that a mole or a plot twist would involve the least obvious character.

Something could also be amiss with Heller. He was supposed to be secretly meeting with some military guy, but we haven't seen him for about 90 minutes (in '24' time).

The thing is...the show has focused on Edgar not doing the hourly LAPDs - i.e., how he dumps it off to someone else, then when he should look at it, he places the CD in a pile, etc. All the while, Marwan and his crew realize that report will eventually get through to CTU and they'd figure it out. With Edgar blowing off the reports - just as Marwan would like - we might be seeing the twist here.

This is just my speculation and reasoning for what I think the next plot twist will be. I've been wrong about this show before.

Agreed - by far, it's the best since season 1.

They've already established that the plane can't land because of the cracked strut and joked (?) that you could only get out with a parachute. That indicates the plane could be used as a missile (like the 9/11 planes were), with the pilot planning to bale out before impact. However, in 24think that seems too obvious, so I don't think that's going to happen. And just for that reason (that I don't think it can happen), it probably will.

I love this show even when it doesn't make sense.

"There are peices falling to the Ground." - Chloe

What a line to end the episode on. I still think Heller is involved. Time will tell. How else is the complicity of a large defense contractor explained. Maybe it will be revealed that the prez was going to approve vast weapon system cuts - hmmm.

Well, the guy complaining in this (Ed. Thank you Mr. Mod!!) thread about the unreality of the situation should be completely apoplectic right now. There was sooo much wrong with this episode.

Air Force 1 has numerous countermeasures, including flak, directed infrared, and more. Plus, why would all the escorts stay put in formation with a confirmed attack coming? And I suppose nobody had any idea that Anderson had tone on them? Huh???

Despite Jack adding a bunch to the Bauer terrorist bodycount :o, this AF1 thing is a little much to willfully suspend disbelief on :o.

Not to insinuate he's a mole or anything, but where has Heller been the past couple of episodes?

And not for nothing, but I wouldnt want to be an agent assigned to accompany Jack anywhere - they're all killed off!

No, No! It's that other CTU suit that Dressler is doing. The one Tony just figured out. He's the mole!

I can suspend disbelief alright but why was FOX hyping a 'big twist' that they basically revealed weeks ago when Marwan said something to the effect of "the President is on a tight schedule" to Mr. Pilot Dude.

I was talking to someone today about how someone should count how many CTU agents are wasted just a few minutes after leaving the office. Chalk up another one during tonight's episode.
