Who should be cut from this

Yes - I learned that the Bills STs was better this year because they put more of their talented players there, including starters, which is what Martz refuses to do and one of the reasons he clashed with April and why April is here now.

What I meant by decent are the remaining players who aren't standouts but do their jobs - the 'decent' ones.  Wire is definitely replaceable on STs.

From what I saw, Coy Wire had an outstanding year on Special Teams especially in punt coverage. How can you say he is "replacable"? With who?

Mark Pike was a below average defensive end. Steve Tasker was never a starting WR. I guess we should have released them and found position players that were better than they were.

TD. 4 years, sold out house, no return for money paid and loyalty given by the fans.

He's a football equivalent of a corporate raider.

So, should we fire him and start all over again??

I love the development of this team and can't wait for next year.

Wire is a disaster in the defensive backfield,

and he had several ST blunders in 2003,

but this year he was outstanding on ST,

especially the last 8 games.

I've changed my tune on him,

he's not going anywhere...

though I'd rather see him add a few pounds & back-up LB or FB.

You are missing my point. First, Wire is no Steve Tasker. Because of the Bills willingness to play more talented players and starters on special teams they are not dependent on ST 'specialists'. The roster spot is better utilized by someone who can fill in and actually play safety competently (which Wire is not capable of doing), as well as be a 'decent' STs player (which is all I consider Wire to be).

Yes. 4 years is a long time in the current make-up of the NFL. 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 fills the stands and sells out and the bottom line is satisfied. You're not to get any more out of TD - he is a hard businessman, and I think he's just as soon get paid to make nuts and bolts as run a sports team.

Why can anyone consider this spider as anything but a failure for the Bills?

OK. I will bite. Who do you want to replace him with?

Are you related to Danny Snyder?

I agree. To compare Wire to either Tasker or Pike is downright wrong. Both of those guys were STANDOUTS on special teams. Wire is nothing more than average and when his contract is up(after 2005), more than likely he will be gone.

Perhaps the "Coy Wire Sucks thread" needs to get dusted off to get your head back on straight? ;)

Denney, Prioleaux and Wire have earned their respective slots on this football team.

Sorry - couldn't resist ;)

QB - Dump Matthews and draft a 2nd day QB to groom as JPs backup...call me a nittany homer, but i'd like to see Zack Mills

RB - Dump Joe Burns. I never understood how he keeps making the roster. Maybe he knows where Donahoe dumped the bodies. See what you can get for Travis and take it. He doesn't want to be here and will be a distraction

TE - Dump Banta, Trafford, and Neufield. If they formed a music band the could call themselves "TE Who?"

WR - i'd argue to keep reed thru the draft. if a decent WR is available in the 2nd or 3rd round then take him and dump reed. otherwise we may need reed as our #3 or #4 WR (depending how Aiken develops)

OL - Dump Pucillo and maybe Teague if Tucker can play C or if we can find someone else

DE - don't see a need to dump anyone, unless we land a stud in the draft or sign a blue chipper, then we should ditch Denney

DT - dump Lavale Sape. I think he's used up his practice squad eligibility. If we resign Phat Williams we can dump either Edwards or Bannan.

LB - don't see a need to dump anyone, unless we land a stud in the draft or sign a blue chip OLB and drop Posey

CB - don't need to drop anyone here, tho i'd like to see a starter brought in and McGee moved back into the nickel

S - a case could be made to dump Wire, Prieleu, and Reese. Of these i'd drop Reese as Preleu and Wire a ST contributers. Tho i'm not sure if their salaries merit ST play. If they're overpaid dump them too

did i forget anyone?

oh yeah!!! Ryan Friggginnn Lindell. 28 yards dude! ;) :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: a high schooler makes those.

at least when norwood blew the super bowl kick it was from 47, and i think norwood's kick was closer to making it than Lindell's 28 friggin yard shank

Yep. Average players on an average team.

I think that the point of the offseason is to go into the next season with better players. Not maintain a level of indistinct mediocrity.

Wow...what a gem. I had to call this one out so that it wouldn't get lost in the shuffle.

Very funny. ;)

;);)

This is so funny! Last night...a buddy of mine and i went out to the local High School field to kick FG's.

I am an overweight 190 lb. 5'11" 40 year old with about as much leg muscle as my 6 year old niece.

I kicked a 27 yarder. In my first attempt. Of course...i missed everything else. And my buddy who is actually athletic but kicks FGs as often as myself...was knocking them down from 30 consistantly.

So...tell me how a guy that is making an NFL contract miss a chip shot like that?

When that is all he does...every day?

Oversimplification. I'm sure Lindell does things besides kicking FGs every day - like work on his backswing and catch reruns of "Dog, the Bounty Hunter".
