Post Draft Anaylsis

Recommended Posts

The draft is looming on the imminent horizon. None of us knows who Buddy will pick. But we should all know what will happen afterwards.

This board will be filled with both self-congratulation and self-assassination. Some of the draft gurus will give us good grades: others will give us poor ones.

The optimists amongst us will believe the former. The pessimists will believe the latter. Both sides will make cogent arguments to defend their point of view.

While I do respect the vast knowledge of guys like Brandt & Casserly and even McShay & Kiper, I don't think any of the media draftniks has a particular strong record when giving out grades. If the published prognosticators are bad, us fans are typically even worse.

Me, personally, I think this year I'll just trust Nix and Company and wait 3 years to see if my faith is proven right or wrong.

I think they gave us a pretty crappy grade last year when in fact we had one of the best draft classes last year, maybe it will change this year? Doubtful.. alot of anaylists are coming around and jumpin on the band wagon but im sure we will get put down somehow like we always do

Thanks for stating that. I come to this site hundreds of times a week and rarely open any threads because at this time of year its monotonous. Not anyone's fault, it just is what it is. You're right, all we can do is hope Buddy and his guru's are on target and we'll know after the 2014 season if they were.

This is a big year for Carrington, Moats, Batten, Troup, and hopefully Easley. After this season we can really see what they are.

I think everyone needs to post their post-draft analysis before the draft. I will begin...

I gave it a B+. I really like this draft. I think Nix had a choice of 3-4 guys I liked in the first round and we got one of them and I'll trust Nix with this one. I know they said he was the BPA on the board and he probably wasn't but it was a position of need and they obviously love this guy. Nix doesn't follow what other draftniks like, he's his own man, and this guy is going to be a stud.

The second choice surprised me. I wanted _____ or ______ and was thrilled when they were available but Nix clearly likes southern schools and big, fast, smart players and this guy was a team captain. I LOVE the third pick. Best pick in the draft. I don't know much about this guy but he looks REALLY good on paper. #4 could be good but I have no idea why we drafted ____ when we already had ____. He's a nice player I just don't see where he gets any time on the field. The second #4 I never heard of. I will have to trust Nix on this one. #5 has a lot talent but I question his consistency, they obviously think ___ can light a fire under him. You can never have enough ____.

Overall, I think this was a very good draft, although I would have liked to see a ____ and a ____ taken. Nix has built up a trust factor though, and frankly I can't wait for the season to start.

I rate this draft a C-. I can't believe I waited 3 months for the draft and they take ________ at #10. They could have traded back 8-10 slots and STILL had him, plus added another 2d rounder. I bet Buddy didn't even pick up the phone and try. And then in the second they take ______ when ______ is still on the board?? WTF?!?! Don't get me wrong, I think _______ will be a decent pro, but ______ has tremendous upside. And big surprise, five picks later Belicheat trades up and grabs him! Then in the 3d they completely reached for __________; Kiper didn't have him going until a full round later. And it wasn't even a position of need. I do like __________ in the 4th, his #s at the combine were solid. And finally they get around to taking a QB with _______ later in the 4th. I guess we're stuck with Fitz for another year. And why did we take a RB in the 5th? Is CJ or Freddie going somewhere?

Really frustrating weekend. I'm so done with Buddy and his draft antics.

First of all, Kiper didnt have ____ going for a full round later but McShay had him going three picks before us so it's a friggin' STEAL. But you're right about #4's combine numbers. I forgot about them. I'm just not sold on him after that one ___ against ___ when it really counted.

Did you even watch his game against ____?!?! This kid doesn't have the _____ or the _____ to go against the top _____ of the NFL! Nix really blew this pick, and it smells of Ralph meddling. With _____ still on the board picking a _____ at that position makes absolutely no sense.

Von Miller/Cam Newton threads >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All of this years. I guess the debates are better when we're dealing with the #3 pick.

+1 and when you're @ #3 the choices are more obvious. Last year it could've been maybe 4 players. This year maybe 10 or more. So posters aren't as rabid.

I'll give this draft a B, with lots of upside. Did you see the smirk on Boomer's face right before the Bills took __________ at #10? I guess the taxi driver is still passing him info. The pick won't please everyone, but really, they had their choice of ___________, ___________, ____________, and ___________ so obviously Buddy took the guy he feels can step right in. Gotta say I was scratching my head at the pick of _____________ in the 2nd. Don't we already have ___________ and __________ on the roster? I see a surprise training camp cut coming. I'm really excited about them using the 2nd 4th rounder to pick up _______________ though. Great developmental guy; he can really learn from Fitz for a couple of years and grow into the position. Did you hear the background story on the second 7th rounder, ___________? Sounds like this could be the steal of the century; one little misunderstanding on a college entrance exam and he was forced to play at Division III __________. He really looks like a man among boys; I already found a YouTube video of his offseason workouts. I'll forward the link.

Go get 'em, Buddy and Chan!

You must not watch very much football.

How are you supposed to evaluate a player like __________ when the opposing team is playing ____________ ? The score was so lopsided that any similarity between the ______________ Bowl and an actual football game was incidental at best.

Aside from two possessions early on that happened before the game got out of hand, ____________ was never even in a position to ___________ the kind of things he'll be drafted to do in the NFL.

Bottom line, you can't judge a _______________ type of player in a game where he's not doing what he's best at, namely _________ the ________ .

People who ignore the context of the game might as well be judging midg__ porn while wearing sleeping shades.

I give this draft an A+... Once the Vikings shook up the draft and went with __________ it allowed a trickle down that left our guy dropping down to #7. For Nix and company to trade up with Jacksonville really showed that we are moving in the right direction. Not once this off season did I ever think we would actually land ______, and now our defense is looking like the one of the top defenses in the AFC. We had other holes to fill and I think our next pick ________ gave Stevie a very good compliment on the field, and another option for Fitz to look for. I will admit though, I thought drafting ___________ at QB was a bit unneeded but for him to fall any lower just because of his (height or age) would have been silly. Our last picks of _______ and ________ are big plug and play guys which is great to have heading into this season.

With our off season, and now this draft, it's playoff time fellas... the drought is over!

:flirt:
